OK everybody. Your pride & joy has just celebrated his/her 10th birthday (motorhome I mean).
No hab check of any sort for the last 7 years, but engine serviced regularly & MOTs passed OK.
What would be the first thing you would check for signs of deterioration after this length of time?
Please keep your choices to the habitation part of the vehicle.

The gas system, you might have a disaster on your hands if you have any leaks, hoses perish over time, it would be the first thing on my list.

Not only the gas hoses but also all rubber plastic hoses they get hard or brittle over time. Jubilee clips can rust. Check the electrical connections for corrosion. Check the floor especially by the shower for damp. The motorhome’s worst enemy.

Or if it ain’t broke don’t fix it 😂😂

Every 12v connector you can find, remove/replace just to get a good contact again. Hab battery discharge test to see how well they are really holding up.

The seams/seals on the roof, walls etc, if these go you'll first know when you have water trickling inside or damp patches (and I'm not talking about the owner! :giggle: ).

When age forces the change from being on Continent to being incontinent ... And where rising prices means that Tena pads are now £15 ... ;)

Up date!...I've come to the conclusion the those plastic water supply t-pieces need to replaced after 10 years. I've just had 2 of them start to leak for no apparent reason. I guess the rubber seals must be perishing after this time. Anybody else have a problem with these after a long period of service?

The Augusta is 13 this year, I undersealed when it was only 1 week old. So no worries there. I have over 100,000 miles on it: The engine clutch and gearbox are original. Filters and oil replaced every 6-8K miles. Ive had new brake discs, six sets of front tyres, 3 sets of rears. New tap in bathroom/shower. New water pump. 2 sets of Habitation batteries 1 new vehicle battery. 4 sets of windscreen wipers. Alde overhaul, Oven thermocouple, Fridge flue clear-out. Washed and waxed twice a year.

Debated many times on here, but pretty much everything mentioned above is covered under a good quality Hab-check.
To do all these things yourself would take quite a long time and you may not have access to some of the specialist equipment required.
I get a Hab check done on my ’van, it’s a personal decision but it gives me peace of mind knowing that things like water, waste, electrics, damp, LPG and CO/CO2 are tested

As said damp is the thing to be most concerned about and I would change the gas hoses. Everthing else you will notice any problems in use.
Had 3 new vans never had a hab check as there is nothing they do you can't do yourself better.

You might want to check the biscuits and anything in the fridge ...

Change the batteries in your smoke alarm and any others.

My Van is 20 years old done about 50.000 miles, body is still good, no damp. Good for another 20 years, well, hopefully.
we too have had Zebedee for only 3 years, at that time 36,000 miles it's a 2003, no damp, hab check each year, our choice...like you david, we hope another 20 years..only 40,000 miles on it, plan to do many more! :roflmto:

Ours is 12 years old. Like you, no hab check for 9 years until last year when we decided to get it done.

No problems apart from a leaking handbasin tap and a stiff oven gas tap - Both easily fixed.

If only Broom made Motorhomes. Mine is 2005 sits, in water, gets rained on, knocked about by wind and waves and yet is dry as a bone in every nook and cranny. We even hoover dust out of the bilges!(y)
