Booked the MoHo in for its MOT on Thursday. I fitted Tyrepal tyre pressure monitoring gizmos last year. Since they are a a nuisance to take off with the rubber cover and the back nut, do any fellow members who have them, take them off and put tyre caps on while in for MOT. Or if you advise MOT centre that you have them, will they take the readings displayed that tyre pressures are ok.

Took mine and they never mentioned them.

I have never seen the tester do mine. Is it something new?

IIRC if an inbuilt tpm system shows a fault that might be a fail, but not an aftermarket one. Might be wrong.

Take the sensors off when having full service & MOT as expensive to replace if lost or damaged so small amount of time & effort versus risk & possible cost. Some servicing packages do a lot of checks - we even get a video of the underneath of our car from Ford!
Manufacturer TPMS warning light is a MOT fail but after market devices like TyrePal are just considered as accessories so not checked.

Interesting. I do use the nut but what a pain. Do you just nip up the cap finger tight?
That’s about it and never had one stolen

TPMS is a testable item after, I think, 2013 but only applies to factory fit systems, not aftermarket.
After, I think, 2013 all vehicles must, by law, have a factory TPMS fitted

Never taken them off for an MOT and never had an issue

I’ve had three new vans since 2013 and none have had TPMS on them🤔

I’m more concerned about them loosening and allowing air out.

No need to worry as the Tyrepal will tell you the pressure is dropping if they come loose. :giggle:

Our previous Peugeot had TPMS and it was not possible to adjust the settings. It had to be done by a Peugeot dealer and many refused to adjust them for liability reasons. I was pleased to find that they were not fitted to our (2021 model) Fiat/Adria.
I have now fitted Tyrepal.

Our 2013 motorhome went through it's MOT last week with TyrePal fitted. No issues.

Have never removed our TyrePal wheel senders for MOT, or servicing.

However, I have been known to tell the Fiat garage not to bother checking the tyre pressures when the van's being serviced. They just bugger things up, because they pump the tyres up much harder than I do, so the TPMS alarm goes off and they don't know how to stop it... ;)

Leave mine on, no problem. I don't use lock nuts either. If they come loose, which has never happened yet, they will alarm long before they fall off.
Why would anyone want to steal them, not much use on their own.

You can turn the Tyrepal unit off if you have any concerns, but leave the valve transmitters in place.

Last MoT on our 2007 ducato I know the sensors were removed as I had specifically asked for the pressures to be checked, knowing one was quite well down. Put back properly as far as I can see.
But I have removed them in the past, just didn't get round to it this time (well I DID have a reason but that's another story).
