We are looking at different solutions to provide a mosquito net for our side sliding door on our Peugeot Boxer PVC.
We've discovered this one and wanted to know if anyone here have had experience with this or other similar solutions.

Looks good and substantial but a tad pricy, we bought some mosquito netting off ebay and some powerful small magnets from www.first4magnets.com.

Cut to shape and some magnets sown into top and loose magnets used to hold sides in place, not as good obviously but a lot cheaper and when positioned correctly looks ok and more importantly works.

This is possibly the best there is on the marketplace at this moment in time.
Look at the U tube videos to find cheaper alternative pads and how to refill the butane cartridge.

We made ours from a mozzy net of eBay and a curtain pole from argos. Probably looks crap but does the job. Lot of satisfaction from having a go yourself even if you fail. Good luck

This one came as a factory fitted option on our Rapido van. Works well. So someone out there is making them.

Thanks yip I'd love one like that, but we are unable to install that type as our kitchen units are right up tight to the side door, so no space to put a "framed" type netting unit sadly.
Last night the Mrs went ahead and ordered the one I linked above in my OP so I'll update here for others once I've installed it.

We added that factory option although the extra cost from Rapido was a whopping £280. Use it all the time.

More European PVC converters are fitting these sliding insect screens as standard kit for 2020 models. Even the entry level PVCs. I think there was one at Dusseldorf for an incredible 33,000 Euros that had the insect screen.

As an option on a new IH or Vantage they are £495 factory fit or over £695 retro fitted, not surprisingly we declined it on our new IH630RD, you know, the silver one we ordered at the Malvern show that I might have mentioned once or twice! I will be most interested to hear about the OPs experience.

we have the Hinderman its brilliant bit of kit have used home made net before which is ok but this one works fine had to do a bit of adjustment a little bit of steel fixed to alloy trim on van so magnets would stick

I’ve managed this summer with the home made magnetic one, but finding it a bit fiddly, so I’m watching with interest, especially how much it impacts on the view out.

It looks quite substantial looking through it into the van, but that might just be the effect of looking in to the dark from the light.

We are off for 2 weeks on Sunday, so I'm hopeful that the net will be here by then for us to try on our trip

If anyone finds one for a Ford Transit please let me know!

I have a few large rolls of fly screen mesh that was used on fridge freezers in supermarkets. It’s excellent stuff. It’s also free to anyone who wants it and can collect from Evesham. If you fancy making your own screens this could be the very thing for a few hours of creativity.

I know this is quite an old thread, but any further feedback on the Vancomfort screen as my finger is hovering over the purchase button . . .

Hi Bart
Do you have any thoughts on the mosquito net.
Does it fit okay and is it ‘robust’ for general use?
With thanks..

Hi Bart
have had one for a couple of years now. Seemed a bit of a faff to start with, then got used to it and now goes on ok with no problems.
enjoy it.

I find that if it's warm enough to have the sliding door fully open it's usually warm enough to open the barn doors, or one of them, then the little blighters tend to fly in one door and out the other.

Hi poursay
Sorry to butt in but I’m also thinking of buying one but it looks quite thick, can you still see out easily?

We found the magnets that were sown into our fly/mosquito screen weren't really strong enough to hold the screens firmly up, so we boosted them by also using the magnetic hooks that are used in cruise ship cabins - they're really strong!

..... Or in through both sets of doors?! 😂

M+M+M.
Don’t recall it being a problem. Yes fairly substantial so shouldn’t tear. Will dig out tomorrow and look at visibility again but hasn’t put us off using it. Will let you know.

Hindermann do a mesh screen for the barn doors - great bit of kit and well made. I’m sure the quality will be as good on the side door screen. Picture shows a slight modification to ours, a couple of velcro tapes sewn in to improve access to under bed storage.
The Dometic sliding screen fitted to the whoosh bang on most PVCs is excellent, but trash if one of the cords break - £375 for a replacement but may not be easy to replace if it’s been fitted at the factory ahead of the van furniture.

Yes important to still watch the world go by

Fantastic! Thanks for looking. Hoping we won’t need it in Brittany this September anyway but it can be stored in our growing pile of optional extras.
