For those contemplating a detour into Morocco to beat the 90 day maximum stay in the Schengen agreement EU area.
Be warned, they are running out of Covid vaccinations! Which unless more vaccinations are made available, means it has the potential to become a high risk area.

Yes but if you are going to Morocco, its in the future, late 2021 early 2022.
Still too early to predict what will happen, in my opinion.

Keeping our eyes peeled on this. We are hoping to do spain - maroc - spain starting September ish this year. Can't wait to get back to Morocco, (can't wait to get back to Spain) it was 2018 when I last went, and we are hoping to return dec/jan if 'things' have calmed down by then.

Fingers crossed. 🇲🇦

Its a winter destination for most of us so plenty of time for things to change yet.

We're in Spain right now ,no apparent issues so far. Strict on the masks in shops etc but not in rural areas and beaches.

I would like to visit Morocco one day but as I understand it theres no point in a schengen break to reset the clock unless it's 90 days. I'm not sure if I would want to go that long.

I'm pretty sure its the same as here as far as schengen is concerned. So you could do 60 days Spain,1 day Morocco and then you have 30 days to get out of schengen area.
( I'm using 1 day as an example not a suggestion 😊)
Great country to vist btw

if you had been in Schengen counties for 90 days then travel to morroco you are correct.
If you had been in a schengen county for say 60 days, you could be in morroco for however long and still have 30 days left on your 90 day limit.

You don't have to do 90 days! We'll probably do 60 in Europe then maybe a month to 6 weeks in Morocco then we still have 30 days left to return to uk through Europe. That gets us most of the way through a British winter!

I suppose i was reading it as Schengen reset which is a different animal!

???
That all depends on how long one has been in the Schengen area before arriving in Morocco.

Has anyone considered Andorra to extend their stay?
Good point, along with these other couple of options.

Like 3 other European microstates —Monaco, San Marino, and Vatican City—, Andorra is not part of the European union nor the Schengen Agreement. Nevertheless, Andorrans are considered exempt from the obligation to carry an ETIAS travel authorization for travel through the Schengen Area.

What does everyone do about insurance?

Saga green card for me, not that I have been, but read various previous years posts. Which are very informative, so thanks to all who contributed in the years past👍
Hope to this winter 🤞

We'd love to go to Morocco this winter, but I suspect that the political problems, referred to by gus-lopez, between Morocco and Spain will not be resolved that quickly.
Spain is not the only country who's diplomatic relations with Morocco have been severed. Germany's consulate was closed down some months ago. In both cases it stems from issues relating to disputed territories, in the Western Sahara, which Morocco claims to be its own.

Apart from the fact that Morocco & Spain are in a dispute at the moment so no private traffic across the straits.

Apart from the fact that it has to comply with EU rules due to being 'landlocked'

As above as do all these. Failure for them to enforce the same schengen 90 day rule would lead to there borders being sealed & the only way out being by air.Or +boat for Monaco

Can't see it improving as I have just read that the Spanish are considering moving Ceuta & Mellila in to the schengen zone which would mean they then control who can & cannot enter them as opposed to the Moroccans who presently control it.

It looks as if Morocco is slowly opening up but personally I wouldn't try to get there at the moment for fear of not getting back
I have no idea where you could get a ferry from. Maybe Marseille or Genoa

I believe that ferries are running from Italy (don't know which port) and from Sete, France. (y)

Considering there are more than 12,600 seasonal workers unable to get to Spain due to this dispute, you would think that would be important. 😯 🍓🌶🍆🥑🥒🍊🍅🍒🍇🍋🍌🍏🍐might see a lot of pick your own. 😁 Bob.

Isn't that just 3rd party cover?

Yes it’s third party, from what I’ve read, that’s all you are going to get.
But I stand to be corrected.

Our Saga green card in 2020 was fully comp.
That could all have changed by now.

Also an update on entry requirements

A "green card" extends your insurance as it is when taken out in your home country. EXCEPT if any country is noted on the green card as being different.
My green card here, which is spanish fortunately, covers every country in europe +Russia, Bosnia-Hertzogovinia, Morocco, etc; etc; & the only notes are for Cyprus, which is only for the parts under the control of the Republic of Cyprus, Azerbajan & Serbia which are only for the parts under the control of the respective governments. None are reduced from full comp.

This might help settle the dispute and get the ferries running again. 😎 Bob.
