Returning to a motorhome.
Right my heater is working fine now. It is noisy, but I haven't fitted the exhaust silencer yet as I am 400 miles from home. Another noise that is annoying is the fuel pump whose tick tick is like a one handed drummer on a snare drum! Mine is a D5WSC with internal pump. I was thinking maybe I could enclose the heater in some sort of box, (it's under the vehicle attached to the floor on a metal plate) but am not sure if this will impede any cooling, if required. Would the pump be touching something hard inside the heater, thus amplifying the noise?
Anyone got any good solutions? I am sure you have!

Not long enough!
Sorry John, but I am interested as I would like to do a self build at some point and I would use an eberspacher(y)

Hi, we have the same unit, and yes you can hear the pump, but from memory it is mounted to the chassis with some rubber bushes thus taking away the metal to metal contact, and softening the "drumming " sound. An exhaust silencer will definitely help quieten the noise, but it is not the quietest of heaters, but you get used to it and they are very efficient. Mike

I could barely hear the pump ticking on mine. Quite unobtrusive once it settled down.

I don't see why not. As long as the exhaust and inlet pipes are clear.
