What's the best and worst mpg you are achieving in your A Class 7.5mtr 4.5tn gross 170 - 180 Hp Euro 6 AUTOMATIC MOTORHOME (breathe in)

Which one ? Fiat or Mercedes generally gives better average mpg ? What's your average Adblue consumption ?

I think you have to look at driving styles and weather manual, comformatic or automatic and where you travel as well. I get normally get 30mpg out of our 2.3l 150bhp 4.5t Autotrail Delaware rarely going over 60mph, but didnā€™t do as well travelling through Spain.

My 6m Merc Sprinter PVC with the Euro 6, 163 bhp engine and 7G Auto weighed about 3.7t loaded and averaged 28.5 mpg over 20,000 miles.

My 6.4m Carthago A Class with the Euro 6, 140 bhp engine and 9G Auto weighs about 3.7t loaded has averaged 28.5 mpg over the last 10,000 miles.

I reckon if my wife hadn't have driven about 30% of the miles in both of them the average mpg would be closer to 30mpg.....

I reckon the Merc and Fiat engines are pretty similar in mpg terms. I could get both into the mid / high 30's on a long gentle run - 55 mph and not too many hills.

I think I got around 25 mpg but I do like to get there! Also I found that when I go faster it gets into the quite high geared 9th. Merc 4:5 T A class

I remember years ago being told that the scientific formula for fuel economy is 'MPG is inversely proportional to weight of the right foot when the road conditions are constant." I don't think despite the vast improvements in engine technology the basic truth has changed in the last 50 years or so.

To get an accurate average you need track millage tank-full to tank-full and log it on an app and do it over period of several months.. or several thousand miles..

I have tracked my Ducato 2.8JTD PVC over 10,000 miles .. 40 fuel ups..

the van is used as a daily driver, about 50% urban driving..

A coachbuild has about 25% more frontal area and has a worse drag coefficient than a PVC. If expect a PVC to get quite a few more mpg.

Same as us in our Mercedes Hymer A class 4.5t. Measured 27.7mpg over 2,265 miles on this trip so far. We usually roll along at 90km/h on motorways and 80km/h on other roads. Other roads at the stated limit for it. Ours seems to like using Ad-Blu though.
Our Sprinter C class 170bhp 4.5T does about 28 mpg
C class Hymer 170bhp MB, 4.5T, 7500 miles Auto 2L FWD is showing 29.1 mpg average from new on the display, but could well be not very accurate, as I don't bother with working out by measuring full tank to full tank.

Thanks for all your responses

On a calm day, flat motorways travelling at just below 100km/hr Iā€™ve been returning 10.2ltrs/100kms (27.6mpg) pleased with this.
But with a head wind this reduces to approximately 12.5ltrs/100km. (22.5mpg)
These results are according to the Mercedes onboard computer..
Think Iā€™ll calculate mpg full tank to tankā€¦ to see how accurate the onboard computer is..

Iā€™ve achieved 30mpgā€¦ in my 24yr old 4tn 2.8 fiat based Burstnerā€¦ seems to me technology has improved on emissions but not so much on economy .?

The reasons that may become obvious in the next few days, I'm really interested in this but haven't a clue what you mean? 10.5Ltrs per what? I mean in old school MPG

Just bought one of the last V6 mercedes on a 5.5t sprinter chassis hoping for 20mpg šŸ¤žšŸ»
Nice, new van mate. Problem is, the Merc v6 Auto is without a doubt the best combination of engine / box you can buy. Sadly though for us, in both we have owned, we done really well to get 20, average was about 18 and when there was a fire to be put out as low as 14mpg..the good news was the display was in Litres so I could easily trick myself and lie to Nikki about it.

stunning drive though.

Europe does litres per 100 kilometres.*

10l = 28.3mpg
12 = 23.5
15 = 18.8

etc

*VW spooked the opposition when it announced it had produced a 3l engine. They meant capacity, not economy!

There's always a downside I suppose šŸ˜€ I'll just drive with slippers on, still prefer the V6 3ltr over the 2ltr.
