I've just been pricing up a ferry crossing to Spain using Brittany Ferries and in the drop down box for vehicle dimensions it says "up to 9'10" - we carry a canoe on top which takes us to 3.5 mtr which is 11'6". Does this mean we cannot travel as we are over their max?

yes if you want the van inside. overheight vehicles go on the rear open deck and get covered in salt from the sea spray

This year we come back via Cherbourg to Poole we are three metres and we were inside with trucks cars etc.

was only looking to go to Santander as we're going to visit northern Spanish coast. coming back via Dover as we're calling in at peu du fou on the way home. think we may just go to france and travel down.

We was on last month and a cutainside trailer in front of us well over 3.5 ? Not sure if you have to pay extra but it was inside

My RV works on 3.75mtr and that goes inside ferries OK , you just need to advise height for load planning purposes :)

portsmouth -santander has a drop box for upto 4mtr height

On my way back from Santander at this mo on the Economie

Most of the MHs inside with the trucks, a few on the open deck

Still rather do this than drive through France

Don't know why folks worry about salt spray.

My car got covered in salt from the drive from Santander on the way out...off the roads

4.0 metres, inside on both Cap Finistere and Pont Aven

Dont understand that because most trucks are over that height and they have no problem..BUSBY.

Mine is 3.6m and I just select “up to 4m” for both ships that do the Portsmouth to Santander route.

Not as much as 24 hours of sea spray. Bad stuff that most used kit in the navy is a chipping hammer and a tin of grey paint to keep the rust at bay

We are only 2.65m (booked as up to 3m) but BF still stick us on the same (inside) deck as the HGVs. That's on the Cap Finistère.

You can’t do it online you have to call them
We have to call for the length of the Rv because it won’t come up online

There is a height limit on Economie for vehicles carrying pets due to the area those vehicles are parked. This does not apply on the full fat services.

Used to take my R-V. Blibao-Portsmouth. No height issues, well over 3M. Most Coaches go on inside decks, I can`t think of any (modern) ferries that have open decks, those that do have are generally freight only?.

I traveled on the baie de seine on the way to santander in September on the outside deck along with many others. The staff hosed us down after the journey. Travelled inside on the way back. 3 metres high I would rather that than driving through France Horses for courses

I find their online system terrible anyway so these days I email them what bookings I want and they quite fast send back my options and a phone number to call to make the booking, so much easier and takes so little of my time
