Morning all
We're 50km north of Pamplona and our leisure batteries went flat overnight for some unknown reason.
Fortunately the skipper was woken by the master panel telling is it was going to switch to the engine battery, so he told it not to.
Despite running the engine and bridging the batteries with jump leads the master panel is refusing to work.
We can get the lights working by bypassing the controller under the bench but the panel itself won't turn on.
Any clues please?

Do you have or check for an in-line fuse in the feed cable from the batteries to your fuse board/master panel.
I see you have a Bailey but may be similar to our Elddis which has this fuse tucked under the battery box and has blown before.

Checked all fuses in master panel and some have live. There's power to the master control unit and the panel itself is lit up but it won't turn on. There's a relay clicking in the control unit but it won't stay on.

Glad it appears now sorted . ( running engine won't allow 12v to work in rear )

Why did you run jump leads from the engine battery to the hab battery.
The engine running will charge the hab battery anyway.

I thought that is what he had said he had done, or that's how I intpreted it.

Because we weren't sure they were charging with just the engine running because the master panel wouldn't turn on.
Anyway we've now realised that we can't do anything with the master panel with the engine running. Lesson learnt.
Thanks for your input.

It seems only British built vans do that.
German vans you can use the 12v in hab area with the engine running.
My concern was if there may have been an overload and it had damaged anything.
Glad you got it sorted.(y)

We find it a pain in the arse with our Elddis. It's bad enough being in the dark on the loo and not being able to flush it while on the move, but with the water pump dead it makes it impossible to shower.

I'd have to mod it so thatIt could be used on the move.

Its something very British this no electrics in the back while the engine is running. It saves the converter a whole load of trouble getting certification etc and also something to do with NCC who are still living in the dark ages and think a MH is a Truck with a Caravan on the back. It is possible to remove this feature. All the Imported vehicles don't have this feature so we have to live with having the heating on while on the move. Certainly makes for warmer travel and yes you can do it because we have the collision gas valve and the little green buttons on the pigtails. We can also use the loo while sitting in a traffic jam on the motorway.
