A big thank you to the Wombles for such comprehensive information ref supermarkets, drs, vets etc prior to us arriving in Lymington. Perhaps you should run the camping field at Countryshow Live, Blenheim Palace next year(!!) Was shocked that C&CC running field this year couldn’t even tell us exactly where camping would be on booking & no information ref nearest anything when we got there!!

Here's a good place to stop for lunch, coffee & cake :inlove: or to pick up some deli treats & break up the journey. Tripadvisor reviews here https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Resta...rm_Shop_Cafe-Salisbury_Wiltshire_England.html . We have only stopped there in the car before but having rung them understand that there is parking suitable for motorhomes on the South Newton side (the other side is more suited to cars) - it is a sharp turn in & back out onto the busy main road - have a look here https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place...f727790eb5c749a!8m2!3d51.0971935!4d-1.8666256 & you can spot a motorhome in the larger car park area signposted as Overflow Car Park (y) It will be busy on a Friday but should be ok if avoiding peak lunchtime rush or passing another day if travelling to the Lymington area earlier in the week.

Help please!
Could anyone that knows Lymington area please give suggestions for best motorhome route to Bamptons Farm, anywhere to be avoided & any good places to stop on the journey there? Such info. may help us & others travelling there. My eyes are getting tired looking at various roads on Google Earth! :snooze:

Coming from Yeovil I follow the main A37 to Dorchester, on the bypass A35 to Bere Regis,A31 to Wimbourne , B3073 to Hurn, A35 then A337 to Lymington. As you come into Lymington A337 carry on till you see the sign for the Ferry , it will be a right turn into Avenue road go right to the end of the road , T juction , turn right then left at the mini roundabout on to Bridge Road. Turn right once over the river follow this road untill you get to Lisle Court Rd it will be on your right. Turn into this road and the entrance to the Farm is along there

A couple of folks have dropped out of the IOW Coach Trip. Anyone else want to join us? It costs £10 per head for the coach trip and you have to pay for a passenger sea crossing at about £14 return. It is Monday 13th August.
We’ve had a couple more cancellations so plenty of space if anyone else would like to join us.

Anyone like watching meteor showers , one will be happening at the weekend, if the weather is good , should see about 50/60 an hour copied this from ESA FB page

The #Perseids are coming! Perhaps the most popular meteor shower of the year and, in 2018, they'll be the best shower of the year. You should be able to see about 60-70 meteors per hour, but in some years (such as in 2016) the rate can be up to 150-200 per hour. The shower's peak will be visible during the nights of 11/12 August and 12/13 August, provided skies are clear. See https://www.esa.int/esaKIDS…/SEMU0SCJY5J_OurUniverse_1.html…

Just looking on Google and Lisle Court Road looks like it goes into a single track road leading to the farm,
so keep your fingers crossed you don't meet anything coming towards you.

I parked my van at the festival site &-walked round to the farm last October.

It's only a short distance up Lisle Court Road & it's a quiet area. I'd be a bit more concerned if anyone missed the turning for Lisle Ct Rd as the lanes do get narrow past there.

But as already said, follow the IOW Ferry signs :)

Is this the entrance? As you say the lane does get very narrow soon after, hope this is right, there is a sign buried in the hedge that I zoomed in on :)(y)

That is the farm gate entrance (y) We aim to have a Marshal in hi-vis on the gate 11am-8pm (if not all in before) on Friday so no-one should go past without realising it!
For anyone that wants to look at the area more see here https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/50°45'32.2"N+1°31'23.8"W/@50.759015,-1.5225652,227m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m6!3m5!1s0x0:0x0!7e2!8m2!3d50.7589472!4d-1.5232664 as on the first post on this thread with all the other info. which has been kept updated.

The entrance is marked here David, you can see some vans in the field behind the farm. This site has been used for years for THS'.(y)

It does say on the first post here https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/foru...-isle-of-wight-more-rally-august-2018.161595/ that the postcode is not exact:
" Location is a large flat camping field behind Bamptons Farm, Lisle Court Road, Lymington SO41 5SH (postcode is not exact please see here https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/50°45'32.2"N+1°31'23.8"W/@50.759015,-1.5225652,227m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m6!3m5!1s0x0:0x0!7e2!8m2!3d50.7589472!4d-1.5232664 ) "
We can't put signs on the roadside as could be fined but a Marshal on the gate should help.

I put those co ordinates into the sat Nav and it takes me to that gate as well, so I am happy to go with @Wombles answer(y)

I am working on the basis that it could be busy getting through Lyndhurst etc so was planning on stopping at Winchester and getting an early start Friday morning.

Winchester looks like it could suit us too, has anyone any recommendations please?

I don't want to say this too loud as it might be full when we get there but the Worthy lane car park allows motorhomes to stay for up to 48 hours in the coach slots, £7 per day.

http://www.winchester.gov.uk/parking/other-parking-facilities

I know the above does not mention overnight but this does,

I'm a newbie and always will be. You never know it all.
Hi Alan Karen, I have just noticed that Aldenise have dropped out of the rally as usual we can not make long term plans so play it by ear. So my question is can we take their place we would like to stay the full 5 days if possible.
Thanks Les & Sue

Many thanks again to all who paid by Paypal or have replied to let us know they have seen the posts & are paying by cash on arrival (y)
The cut-off time for paying in advance by Paypal was midday yesterday so if you haven't already paid then paying on arrival is the only option now so please have correct money in an envelope with your forum name & vehicle registration ready - no change will be given so any extra will be donated to Cancer Research UK after the Rally.

sorry to say, we may be unable to attend now. just back from the vets where ceran our blind girl is undergoing tests. she has lost condition over the last couple of weeks along with 20% of her body weight. the specialist vet we saw today has detected some sort of heart murmur and is querying some sort of aggressive growth. We are now sat by the phone waiting the verdict after she has had ultrasound and a ct scan. obviously if she needs an operation, then she is our priority rather than rallying in the van

I will let you know when we know more
