Hello all, we are researching devices/gadgets to determine the level of LPG in our twin Gaslo refillable system, 11kg and 6kg. We’ve previously winged it and so far been lucky to gauge the level correctly but it would be good to actually know a precise level to take away the guessing. Do any of you lovely people have a branded system that you would recommend ? We‘ve looked at the Truma system, theirs use an app and pen but it would be great to have some feedback from anyone who uses this system or any other system successfully. Any advice would be much appreciated thank you. 😊

Mopeka works fine for me. Prior to fitting it, a rough and ready - but pretty accurate - method was to pour very hot water down the side of the tank, then run your fingers down the tank. The metal stays warm above the level but cools very quickly below the level.

I must be doing something wrong. My Mopeka does not work at all. Use the silicone and changed the battery but still unreliable.

My twin 11kgs run through an auto change over valve. I keep both turned on. When the first tank is exhausted there is a seamless changeover and I then refill the system when the opportunity arises. Simples! ;) Never run out yet.
Yes thank you, that’s what we’re doing now, just wanting a monitor that works.

Thanks Pete, Mopeka seems to be popular.

I was looking at the Truma pen which looked one the simplest solutions and has good reviews. Instead went for the Truma gismo that fits under the bottle and sends a signal to your phone app - only because the pen was out of stock though.

Gaslow have a system called Wave. It is fairly new. I have it fitted to both cylinders. So far has worked perfectly. Very accurate as far as I can tell. Monitored from a phone app. Gives usage stats if you are that way inclined. You can set it for an alarm at 25-20% capacity or whatever suits you. Not cheap but I am more than satisfied.

Thank you for your feedback Pandas 😊

Thanks Chrisvh, we’ll check this one out too. 😊

I have a Mopeka that I tried to use on a 6kg Calor light bottle....and like David and Sally had very limited success.

I now use a fibre glass re-fillable Safefill bottle that is see through, so I can physically see how much gas is in it. 👍🏼

I have a similar set up but turn 1 tank off so I know how much is in and when one runs out I know that anytime in the next 2 weeks find some gas never a hurry

Another vote for the Mopeka system. We have two 11kg Gasit tanks and it has always worked for us.
Thanks peterc10, the Mopeka system is looking favourite 🤩

Are your Gaslow cylinders the later multivalve type ?
I have tried the Gaslow wave system on my own cylinders and it seems to work well ⚠️

Mopeka works for me as long as the battery is up to scratch. Seems to last two years between battery changes.

Thank you to everyone who took the trouble to reply, it seems Mopeka is the winner here. 😊

Me too. Ordered the pen from CMC but as it was out of stock, they upgraded me free of charge to the under the bottle device with phone app. Says I have 100% still......
