Why low wattage if on EHU?

We have got a Daewoo unit in the van. It uses the same power as our Ninja that we have at home. We wanted one with a decent size draw, and not a round draw which many small ones have. The power of it, like our Ninja cycles on and off as it cooks, so not a constant consumption.

I had one and they blow half the heat out of the back so there's no wonder the thermostat keeps cycling. Sent it back and bought a Quest 650w mini oven. Fantastic thing and only £35

Why low wattage if on EHU?
Some EHU is 6 amp max, which is 6 x 230 = 1380W max. So a 1500W air fryer risks tripping the EHU bollard. But a 1000W or even a 1200W would be OK.

Depends where you go, most UK campsites have a 10A or 16A trip, but many sites and aires in EU are 6A.

Hi
Appreciate all the feedback,
Yes been researching looking for 1000w as not to jeopardise any sites for power blow out(EHU)
Thanks again, will keep my eye out for 2L as this I'm sure will sort me and hubby out:giggle:

Had a 900w version for a few years now.. Use it off the batteries via an 1100w inverter (cheapish one nothing OTT).
Originally bought so our grandson could have his nuggets and chips while on a rally. :doh:

Ideal for use just for 2 and we do use ours regular, mainly off the inverter as we hardle ever have EHU.
By going for the 1000w limit at least you know you will be ok on sites with low ampage in case you come across any..

Aldi / Lidl / Asda and Amazon all do them.. Just check the wattage on the boxes or the specs if online.

Yes when the grandkids come along, exactly the same for us, but French toast( egg bread also a favourite on the gas top)

We have this 900w Corsori one. Just big enough for two people, runs fine on a 6A hook up or from the power bank.

It does take a bit longer to cook things than our big one does at home, but only a little bit. Plus, because its small its easy to store.
Ditto we are using one of these on this trip , as per dangermousy it’s only a slightly longer cook time.

Downside of the Cosori 2 litre is that it occupies a disproportionate amount of cupboard space for its 2 litre size though it is light in weight. Reason is that it has a rigid sticky-out permanently attached exit mains cable.

It is fine for cooking oven chips or say a single chicken breast but cannot manage a complete meal. See my post at #6 in this thread for my current choice Russell Hobbs

We have a 900w one from Lidl, basket is 2L so ideal for the van.
We bought a similar one from Asda. Clockwork dials. Works a treat on the inverter. No issues. One up to temp you can turn the heat down and when it clicks off turn it back up again if you want to save power( the fan still runs circulating the hot air)

You can set the wattage to suit so doesn't really matter what size you get. We bought a Tefal, 4.2 L
Thankyou,
Seemed only the 2L seemed to be for 1 to 2 persons, then went up in size so wattage also went up
If I'm understanding this correctly :unsure:

Just got our 2ltr Tower (1000W) replaced due to a recall , we have upgraded to a Tower T17125 which is 3ltr and 1200W , still stows in the oven, albeit with the drawer removed, and our 2000W inverter copes with the increased wattage with no issues.

I bought this one for the motorhome, but so far have only used it in the house. It will run off my 2.4kW AllPowers Powerbank just fine.

You have an oven and an airfryer!! I had one on my old van (gas oven) but found I never used it. I have just a hob on my PVC. Hence investing in a decent size (4 litre) airfryer - a much better use of space for me than an oven. On the old van its main use was a storage space for the 2 litre Cosori!!

Same , Gas oven / grill, it is mainly used to store the air fryer lol , but we do use it occasionally.

1. Because low wattage can be run from a portable power station if no EHU available;
2. Because on the Continent, anything other than low wattage is likely to trip the EHU which is a pain.
I run mine off my Ecoflow, and French Aires all the time without issues. 👍🏻

We have had and recommend:
1. This Daewoo air fryer which is tiny and basic but brilliant, we gifted it to a family member who is now happily using it;
2. This Tower air fryer which is similar to the above but a bit bigger.
Silicone liners are a must!

The other half went to buy a low wattage (on instruction) one from Electro depot in the January sale for 22 euros. It was marked down to 19€!!!
It’s great and uses bugger all but cooks great. I love the old fashioned ticking wind up timer. Not huge but what do you need in a van? By the way I’m happy and we have no oven!
