The (fairly useless) cabin light on our Bessacarr stopped working. When we took it off we found the white wire to the switch had come loose. We can't find any way of fixing it back in place and worried about breaking something. Can anybody help with this?

It should push back into the switch at the opposite end to the black wire and will self grip when fully pushed in.

Thankyou Richard n Ann and papppajohn for your helpfulreplies. We did this and it does seem to have gripped ok. But it still isn't working. Don't think it can be a fuse as the one on the other side still works. When we were playing around with it and poking it in the hole it came out of, we got the light to work , but now it's back together it won't come on. I wonder if we damaged the switch trying to find a way to clip the wire in?

You can check if it's the switch that's at fault by touching the two switch wires together (the black one and the white one) thereby bypassing the switch. If everything else is O.K. (fuse, wiring, lamp........) the light should come on.

Thanks for this..... that was the only thing we failed to do when checking the connections with a multi-meter. The ends of the wires are no longer visible. Unfortunately, now we have managed to get the wires in, we don't want to pull them out again! We may just leave it for now, at least it's safe. We will look at a new LED light when we return from our travels....we are booked on Eurotunnel next Monday.
