enough to know i shouldnt touch things i know nothing about ....
we are looking for models of 4 berth motorhomes (inc 4 travelling seats) that have a fixed island bed and a drop down bed in the front somewhere, I think Hymer do one?? we are not looking for an A class, as i am not comfortable with the driving position, so a coachbuilt low profile would be ideal.

we are not ready for an upgrade yet, but want to start looking for suitable models. the boss is very picky though, so it will need to have large fridge freezer and a full oven.

the van might not actually exist, except in our dreams, but we are willing to wait until one comes along .....

if anyone knows of any make or model that might fit our needs, please point us in the right direction, Thanks

we are in no rush ....

Don't write off an A Class so quickly, they are much easier to drive than a standard CB. The steering wheel to the front of the vehicle is exactly the same dimension as a standard cab. The only real difference is you sit a few more inches in from the side but even that is the same dimension to a CB body side.
Much easier to get through small gaps and reverse as the sides are parallel and no big sticky out mirrors, the bus mirrors are close to the body and give a much better view.
See if you can get a dealer to let you have a test drive you will be surprised how nice they are to drive.

This is our Swift Escape 694 with Island bed, I wouldnt describe the fridge with freezer department big but more than adequate for 4 x people and the Toilet and Shower are combined thats your compromise but for me and my wife and two dogs its perfect. We didnt spec a drop down bed we dont need it, if we were to carry another two people we would make up the lounge area into a double bed, it also has two travelling seats with seat belts. Good luck with your search. :giggle: (y) 7.41 mtrs long

I looked at a burstner low profile a couple of years ago which had island bed and drop down at the front. don't remember the model number i'm afraid.

We had a Hymer Exsis I 698 but you can also get An Exsis T698 with island bed😊👍

Burstner Lyseo Harmony 700 734 736 or 745. All island bed with optional drop down electric over the lounge.

We had a Pilote with an island bed and a dop down bed. The drop down bed was electric, as many of these are. We had a lot of trouble with the bed getting stuck, so we wouldn't go for one again.

We moved onto an A Class and actually, they are completely fine to drive and you just pull the over cab bed down.

We’ve just bought a Knaus 650MEG which has singles with option of drop down bed in front, they also do a island bed model it might be MS or similar, we were very tempted with it when deciding.

For me, the major disadvantage of a drop-down bed in a non-A Class vehicle is that the bed drops down over the table and, as I am naturally an early riser (06:00 - 06:30 normally) I would be unable to have my breakfast until the occupant(s) of the drop-down were out of bed. I have had both a Hymer and a Burstner A-Class with drop-down beds and I had no problems with the driving position. I am about 1.85m tall (about 6ft 2ins in old money, I think)

The Carthago C-tourer 144QB and 150QB both have island beds at the rear and (I assume electric) drop down beds over the table.

I personally find the A class slightly more cumbersome than a coach built, and not needing the headroom would prefer a coachbuilt if all the layout considerations were equal (they aren‘t for us)

Hi mister b,
Just a thought , check out shower size on the island bed models ,we found them a bit tight , went for pair of singles with rear wash room Roller team T line 785
Good under beds storage , also drop down bed

I think that was the type we looked at. seemed a bit claustrophobic to me after an A class but each to their own:giggle: lovely quality mind!

What you are describing is the Rimor Super Brig 69 plus.

Island bed, drop down centre bed. Human sized khazi and washroom. Completely separate shower. Big fridge, separate freezer, decent sized garage with doors either side,

We have the Super Brig 87 plus (renamed from Europeo last year). Very high quality internal build on an Italian design. Far cheaper than the more well-known brands! If you go for no accessories, you will get change from fifty six grand, new. We had a 4m Omnistor, towbar, oven, inverter, stereo upgrade, 150 hp engine upgrade, comfortmatic gearbox, alloys, spare alloy, lifting rear bed and truma aircon and we paid about sixty three grand.

Couple of points to look out for.
1. The oven supplied may have bottom hinges. You need to ensure a top hinged oven or you will burn your arms as you reach over the open door to use it!
2. Our supplied boiler was not dual fuel. It will only work on gas. You might need to request electric as well. We've changed ours to dual.
3. It has rear steadies. Drop down, not wind down and so close to the rear wheels to be pretty useless. We've removed ours.
4. One of the gas bottle spaces is very tight!
5. Rimor took a long time to build and deliver.

As said previously an A class is easier in restrictive spaces as the width is the same all the way along length.
The drop down bed only clovers the driving seats so leaves rest of the van useable.
Personally we wouldn’t go back to a coachbuilt!

My pleasure mate, but our 87 plus has the rear transverse bed and is 20cm shorter. And, even if I ever wanted to sell/trade it, Mrs DDJC would have my arse in a handcart!!

I have always thought that the island bed has two drawbacks. One the chamfered-off the corners of the mattress makes your feet stick out and secondly you use a lot of floor space having a port and starboard access. But that is just me. Many folks love them.

i have Burstner Ixeo Time 745, island bed, centre bathroom and drop down bed at front over lounge/dining area.

4 belts also, not been out in the damn thing yet as collected it just as lockdown hit!

swift escape 694 ,, brill,, island bed. front drop down bed everything you need . also 5 seat belts

Sunlight t69l or t69s have a look at goodmans motorhomes

I would go along with previously suggested Roller Team Zifiro 696 in my opinion it has the added benefit of the Ford Transit as a base vehicle.

We have a Dethleffs Trend T 6757 which fits the brief and is less than 7m in length. We are very pleased with it so far, though only had it since June and have been restricted with lockdowns. Had 4 trips so far and no complaints.

I have a Burster Ixeo Time, which has rear island bed, central bathroom and an electric drop down bed at the front.

Nice build quality, mine is Fiat Ducato Auto based.
