Recently emptied the piggy-bank to acquire our fine little Transit Campervan, of 1999 vintage. Over the coming months we plan to visit friends and family in Sussex and Cornwall, then looking to conquer Italy and Portugal in due course. Looking forward to a new chapter of holiday experiences, and will be happy never to see another Airport Check-in desk.

I like modest vans - great fun at a modest cost.

You want to make some changes, drill some holes, cut some panels? Go ahead - no worries, you won't lose any sleep.

You'll be able to chuckle when you read threads here about members with spanking new plastic units costing the price of a small house, worrying about drilling holes to mount bike racks/solar panels etc and what polish or wax to use on their GRP skirts - and most of all, almost having a nervous breakdown worrying about someone taking out their door mirror (have you seen what they cost?)........ and I speak from experience.

Depreciation?

Enjoy your modest travels - I enjoy mine.

Our 1994 Talbot Express has taken us places we would never have considered if we'd had to get there by plane or coach. Main holiday this year will be the Mosel Valley in Germany. Can't wait!

I'm lucky that this van has been carefully looked after by its previous owner, who was a real enthusiast. There are a few things that need tidying, I've now fitted central locking, and started to refine the attachment rig for our driveaway awning.

Drilling and cutting has already commenced, but in moderation - there's no rush to change for change's sake.

Thanks again to all who have taken time to comment! I confess to being a seasoned lurker on the net, and generally only resort to the keyboard when seeking free advice from others. You have been warned ;-)
