AutoTrail Apache 700
Hi guys we have an Apache AutroTrail 700 and just want to know if changing over to a lithium leisure battery is something that can be done yourself ie does it just slot in with same connections etc - thanks

You can do it yourself but you have to make sure your charger is compatible with Lithium, as you do need to have the correct charge sequence. Also if you have a dc to dc charger as well, you need to make sure that it is set for lithium batteries. The same applies to solar panels. I bought a Victron charger that you can program the charge sequence as recommended by the battery manufacturer, I also have a dc to dc charger from BMPRO and it takes the charge from the Alternator and also from the solar panels and is compatible with lithium. There are plenty of Dc to dc chargers on the market that do this but make sure they work with lithium and have a solar regulator built in. It all works great and so much better than deep cycle, agm or gel batteries. Well worth the extra cost.

Although some suppliers say they are just a straight swap to get the best out of them you need a mains charger and solar controller that have Lithium profiles and you need to fit a B2B.

Autotrail wiring like most Brit vans is well undersized at the very least the main cables to the battery are best replaced even if you are not fitting Lithium.

Thank you, yes we have all that too. We are just trying to access the Victron App! We are getting an Ecotree lithium. Thanks for your reply. We are going away in a few days so it’s all a bit of a rush!
