I'm an oldbie MH number 10
Wins the Ballon d'or for a record 6th time.

Is he the best player ever?

I know it's a different era but I am thinking he has put even the Great Pele to bed.

Lucky to live in an era where there are some true greats. Messi, Ronaldo and of course Zaha and Benteke.

Not sure JJ that we will ever see him playing in the premiership for the Saudi National all stars 11? Or even if he could rescue Man united from relegation this year PaulyP

Not sure we could afford him, don't think he will ever leave Barcelona.
At the moment we would need four of him.
I'm confident Ole will get it right if given time, at least two more transfer windows to get in the right players and get rid of those who are not good enough, going to be a few more bad times before the good times roll again.

But they won't get better even with better players until the coaches stop this stupid sideways and backwards passing and concentrate on going forwards. I liken it to walking football for pensioners.

Supposed to be attractive football, but for me I would much rather see the old blood and thunder ways of old.

Thank God he did win it... Dick van Dyke was 2nd and if he'd won the w*nkfest would have been unbearable

Mr Haganap... I do so hope you are not confusing Saudi Arabia (spit spit) with Abu Dhabi (let me kiss your feet).

JJ

I am afraid I cannot agree with the old school, "get at 'em", Brit style of clogging supporters.

I suppose you lot want the muddy quagmire pitches back together with the laced up, leather balls as well.

JJ :coolest:

PS. Zaha is fabulous...

No, for me it's still Pele. He was sublime in an era when defenders were quite happy to kick him into row Z of the stands. Just got up and took retribution with his skills. It's one thing being an artist when you know that you have the protection of the ref and the laws of the game, it's quite another when the defender is intent on trying to break your legs.

Thought VAR might have taken it of Messi and given it to the Dutch Van
My nephew heard a new nursery rhyme last week:

Humpy Dumpty sat on a wall
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall
All the King's horses and all the King's men
Consulted VAR who gave Liverpool a Pen

Do we think that Poch will go to Man U?

JJ
I hope not, his trophy cabinet is not exactly full !!
He got Spurs to be a fairly regular top four team but could never get past that final hurdle, if this time next year we haven't improved dramatically I'll concede that OGS is not the man but I'm prepared to give him the chance over the next two transfer windows.

Having been a football fan for so many years it shouldn’t surprise me that their are so many people who can’t accept the facts ,especially the Manchester City supporters with their trite comments about players that their manager wishes he had . I personally would not call any team , Player or otherwise that stand so many points ahead of the rest . :xsmile:

Which players do @MCFC wish they had? Dick Van I assume you mean... The lad is perfect for Liverpool, chip on both shoulders, smug, self-entitled, goes over when brushed like he's been shot and he's also offended by everything yet embarrassed by nothing I've heard....

He was never going anywhere else but Klanfield from the feeder club... we could have offered silly money (we didn't by the way) but he supported Liverpool as a kid and wanted to be a part of the eestrey allegedly. He was actually quoted as saying "every player would love to play for Liverpool".. that's a genuine quote... Personally I'd rather eat my own shit but each to his own...

The belief that everybody carries a candle for Liverpool is BS Lar

It does look like a massive ask to catch you up this time around but it wouldn't be the first time if the wheels fell off the bus.. ask Slippy Steve

And yes, you can tell I f****** hate your club. They overtook @MUFC recently for my "most detested"

And with that I'm off to see my Liverpool fan wife :lipssealed:

you not only have a bee in your bonnet but I think you have one in your underpants you supercilious blob.

Coventry could be beckoning

Messi is undoubtedly a great, but not the greatest in my book. That title I would have to give to the magician that is Ronaldinho, ex Barcalona player. Awesome player who had every trick in the book as an added extra.

I was confused when I read that because City had already paid £44 million to Liverpool for the 'lad' but then I realized you meant someone else.

Johan Cruyff for me.

Offended?? How stereotypical

for the record it’s certainly not @MCFC fans who think they’re superior Dippsy

No alliance with any English club so genuine question, what makes you think he’ll get it right? Is his team showing evidence of improvement? What make you think an inexperienced manager will get it right after 2 windows when some of the supposedly best managers couldn’t?

I liked him as a player but really shocked when he got the job with little or no experience of managing in a top league.

Basically since Fergie retired we tried three managers who did not understand the basic DNA of the club which started under Sir Matt Busby and then was taken up by Sir Alex Ferguson, Ole has that feeling, whether he can bring it back I don't know but he will put the club on the right lines and all United fans hope he's the one.
When Fergie retired the club wanted someone of the same ilk to take over, but there will never be another like him.
In his last season he won the league with players who were not good enough and we have suffered ever since, have to get rid off the dross and bring in the right type of players and it's not a quick fix, may take a while before we are truly competitive again.

You're 100% correct there, I don't think people realised how good he was until he left.
Yes lots of people who are under thirty have know nothing but success under Fergie, my 17 year old grandson who rarely misses a game is learning how things have been in the past pre Fergie.
