.
I have now removed the rear bicycle carrier and we’re left with holes now.

I have two options that I can think of but I am sure there are other options apart from putting it back on.

stick in some stainless steel hex bolts with plastic caps.
or

stick on four rear end red reflectors over the holes 100 x 50 mm.

other options ?

Bit late but as an alternative you could have left those in place as i am sure you can buy a new replacement set if you were looking to fit the rack to another vehicle or sell it on.. :xThumb:

However, knowing Fiamma i bet they would be a stupid price..

Reflectors would get my vote ;-)

I have seen quite a lot of them for sale as low as £50. and £100 second hand
This is a three bike holder .
so hardly worth the trouble not enough even to scrap. I can’t even think of another use for it either.
free in Southampton for a while then down the tip..After Christmas.

I would have used stainless steel plates/bolts making sure they are bedded on sealent to stop any water ingress.

I have used stainless steel plates on the inside cupboard handles.

but I have been told to use a marine grade stainless steel plates so as they have no chance of rusting.

Hi.
Another for bolts. If/when you sell on the holes are allready there for the next rack whatever to be mounted.

As Tonka has said , can you not remove the fixing brackets , which should separate from the bike rack , and use them as they should be rust proof and should not look out of place ?

I would probably have left it on regardless as the make great 'washing lines' and are invaluable if you want to bring something large, but not heavy, home ... we brought a very large wheelbarrow back from France on one many years ago!

Why…….? Do tell, Minxy :xwink:

Check for CV overs on E bay ,shouldn't cost that much.

We had two bolt holes, thought about leaving the stainless steel bolts in, but if looked odd being in one door, 😉 so sealed the holes and stuck 6 reflectors on. 👍😁 Bob.

I picked up a computer chair from Crewe on our way to Wales, it wouldn't fit through the door, so got fastened to the bike rack. I was filling up with fuel and when Val came back from paying, she was chuckling away as the petrol station attendant had asked "Is that the naughty chair ?"

'cause we wanted a new wheelbarrow!

It was reduced in Intermache I think and we saw just at the very beginning of our 2/3 weeks holiday so it had a lovely trip round France and got quite a few funny looks from passers by and other MHers ... probably though it was to move a 'massive' toilet cassette around!:xrofl:

Actually it is a brilliant wheel barrow, big plastic green moulded thing and take loads of garden waste and ideal for moving stuff around such as bags of mulch etc, one of the best things we've every bought and I think it worked out about £3 at the exchange rate at the time! Never seen another one and many people have tried to relieve me of it but not a ruddy chance!

That’s what am going to do as there are no holes all the way through the back of the unit.
this will leave to option to whom ever gets it when we’re done with roaming.

reflectors on order ..

I will see what the four look like then post the images.

I think it depends where you go, and who does it, some seem to make it up as they go along. 😁

One truck I had s line of amber lights under the bumper, one guy passed it, another said if I wanted you to turn you fairy lights on I will ask you. 😁
I forgot to flick the switch, same with the spot lights on the roof, he said full beam, realised a bit late. 😎 Bob.

Just had a good web search and there is nothing that mentions anything about additional reflectors.

or I could use reflective red self adhesive tape.

when driving at night and you see lorries in the lay-by the first thing most of them have is reflective red tape around the outside of the whole rear section. So I would have thought it was a safety thing. While parked in a lay by at night .

Now fitted the reflectors.

The holes for a bike rack if wanted are still there.
I havejust the high level brake light now to finish a
off then new reg plate with reversing cam in it and the rear end will be done apart from a good clean.

now on with something else.

Nice one, I have removed my bike rack also and was going to put red reflectors where the brackets are. I was going to put some bolts in the holes with caps but the bolts are about 6 inches long because it’s double skinned. I have put red reflectors along the bumper and they look ok and do a good job at night. Will get some more in the new year and remove brackets and fix. (y)
