If I take the MH for twenty minutes tomorrow to give it a run and move the tyres - and promise not to step out of it .... is that OK ?

And what if you break down or are involved in an accident or emergency of some kind? That means a load of people will need to mobilise to assist you increasing the risks for all involved. Asking them to risk their lives so you don’t get a flat on your tyres isn’t really on. :(

No. Definitely not. It'll be fine. Just keep the tyres and batteries topped up.
Anyway, I doubt you'll get far as according to The News the police are stopping 'campervans' and caravans. Some issuing 'on the spot' penalty notices apparently.

Before the lockdown, I had doing the same in mind for the same reasons.

However, given the guidance and parameters given for the lockdown, I’ve sorned the van because it would not be classified as ‘essential’.

No, unless it’s essential I’ve sorn mine so I'm not tempted. I will start her up on the drive and run it for 20-30 mins in about 4 weeks to 8 weeks
If I run my Ducato engine without moving for more than about 3 minutes it sounds an alarm. Is there a way round this?

IF it is being used for any approved purpose, ie shopping the police should not be issuing any sort of sanction.

As it stands, it, the M-H, would be my only transport, the "toad" needs a new clutch, and it`s MOT is due soon, the plan was to get both done at the same time. If it could be arranged, I would "A" frame it to the garage, leave it to be worked on, go on to the Supermarket, currently NO delivery slots anywhere, and Brim the Fuel at the same time. I predict there is going to be a lot of work for the "trade" after the lockdown due to vehicles NOT being used.

... and probably a lot of work for the trade after modern diesels being used only for small runs at low speed.

Yeh!. That too. (un) fortunately for us perhaps, our nearest Supermarket is 6.7 miles each way (most direct route) which could be extended to double that using the "alternative" route through the back roads, the one I use when taking my vehicles for MOT to ensure they are up to working temperature, the route which co-incidently runs past the Garage. Have you checked the OBD?. The readout may give you a clue as to what is triggering it. I kept getting a warning on the last one (2007 model X250), Turned out to be a EGR fault.

On-board diagnostics - a means of interogating the vehicles onboard "computer to ascertain what a fault is
Exhaust gas regeneration - re-circulation of exhaust gases to reduce pollutant emissions.

So for the last 13 years our motorhomes and cars have stood on campsites or at home for 5 or 6 months over winter, I can't recall having any problems, as long as your tyres are inflated and your batteries are charged, ours has been parked since October and had one 90k journey and that was to collect a large package. ?
When people use the phase square wheeled is that caused by not using a vehicle. ?
The way the UK is going, it wont be long before it's as bad as Spain unfortunately, what part of stay home don't people understand. ? Bob.

You‘re avin’ a larf..........aren’t you?
STAY AT HOME!
ESSENTIAL TRAVEL ONLY!
How many times do you have to be told?

Enough people are flouting the rules without us doing it too and the more people do it the longer the lockdown could go on!

Description
On-board diagnostics is an automotive term referring to a vehicle's self-diagnostic and reporting capability. OBD systems give the vehicle owner or repair technician access to the status of the various vehicle sub-systems.
Description
In internal combustion engines, exhaust gas recirculation is a nitrogen oxide emissions reduction technique used in petrol/gasoline and diesel engines. EGR works by recirculating a portion of an engine's exhaust gas back to the engine cylinders.

Common fault on modern engines. Stolen from google. ?

Bit controversial but here goes.

Following on from the BQ thread in the U shaped lounge.

If the police arent doing anything about the 200000 people trying to collect DIY products from BQ, Screwfix and Wickes which is definitely not essential then a quick run in the mh to a supermarket to collect shopping as it's your only vehicle ?should be ok.
Think it's time for a full lock down.

The problem with stopping people using B&Q and Wickes, Screwfix etc. is, in an emergency you won't be able to get your house fixed, washing machine floods, electrical issues etc. all need access to parts and would be considered essential in my opinion.

Their original essentials list was for plumbing and electrical installation items only.

Available on-line for delivery. (y)

The way the ordering system is at B&Q right now, your house would be flooded to the rafters well before you got your parts.

Try Screwfix or Toolstation then, Toolstation have still been next day for me. (y)
