Anyone got plans for the 4th ? . We're off to Cornwall for a week to see our friends who are starting new jobs as wardens at Pentewan sands. We can't stay there because they don't allow dogs so pitching up at Little Dimmick. Spoke to richard the owner yesterday and we were given a choice of pitches😁.Appears that the mad rush wont be on until all their facilities are open, middle of july, so happy days😊😊

We are off to 5 van site in Northumberland for 3 nights. Going to visit both sets of parents who we haven't seen since Christmas. Not sure where headed after that but hoping to be away for at least 2weeks.

Don't you go putting 'Little Dimmick' in your Sat Nav.

Depending on model, you'll either get your feet wet as there's a Little Dimmick in Maine, USA or there's a pond in Somerset.

You could put 'Little Winnick' in the Sat Nav and it'll get you close to Pentewan. (But you already knew that) (y)

Southport , Sat n Sun , cycling up to Formby , really looking forward to it !

Formby beaches and all surrounding roads are rammed. Be careful on your bike as cars are parked everywhere.

Can see the 4th being a complete log jam everywhere. All this pent up need to get away, the roads with all the caravan and motorhome traffic, not to mention all the day trippers as per yesterday, I'm glad we are giving it a week or so to calm down a little.

We might. Usually I would see one set of aged relatives (in Falmouth) at May half term, and the other one (on the Isle of Man) at Easter or vice versa, leaving the summer holidays free for jaunts to Europe, but obviously we haven’t this year. IoM is still closed, so not going there (might see about October half term) but we could mosey on down to Falmouth. It would be nice to give out favourite businesses some custom, even if it not quite business as usual. Although I don’t fancy dealing with crowds, but there aren’t usually that many, as I recall. I might phone the aged aunt and see how she feels about.

Booked a CAMC site 8 miles from home to see how crazy (or not) things are, hopefully they have the correct procedures in place and other visitors are following guidelines. If not it’ll be a 15 minute journey home and a rethink on other bookings we have already.

Got a pitch booked on a site in Silsden, Yorkshire for a couple of nights purely to meet up with 92 year old MiL who we haven't seen since February and who lives near the site.

Hi kip
Theres a footpath / cycle path behind your campsite go across the bridge turn right takes you to Pentewan village , otherwise by road no footpath quite dangerous, we moved down to Gorran Haven 9 months ago

I do’nt if some people know something I do’nt but travelling along the A303, across country to the M5 to Bridgwater and back this morning I have seen more motorhome, campervans and caravan since summer last year, both eastward and westward. Where the heck are they all going ?

We are booked in at Calshot in Hampshire, a super site for watching the cruise liners going out in the evenings, I do’nt think we will see any this year though.

We had booked into Denny Wood a CITF site with the C&CC for a few days from the 4th of July but as we all now know the useless lot have closed all the forest sites for the year

I would allow plenty of travelling time, you won't be the only one coming down to Cornwall.

We're hoping to leave on the 3rd and stay overnight at mevagissey's longstay carpark.

Unfortunately I think the roads will be mayhem that weekend.
Don’t forget the many hundreds of families that own static caravans on the coast who ,although having had to pay annual ground rent, have not been able to use them yet.
Its only my opinion but I think there will be hoards of owners rushing to open them up especially as the kids are off school and many parents still furloughed.
Whilst this will not have an effect on pitch availability for tourers it could certainly make the commute hell !!
I need to be near Exeter on Sat 4th which means driving down the M5, so am thinking of going through the night.

Heading to Dorset on the 6th no intention of using the M5. I will be using as many minor roads as possible and enjoy the views on route (well, that's the plan, also leaving t silly o'clock in the morning)

We're off to Meadowbank christchurch on the 4th. I booked it ages ago. We're leaving early morning to try and miss the inevitable jams.
Seems like everyone will have the same idea though.

First F1 GP since last year that weekend so I’ll be safely at home watching the race and all the buildup.
I'll let you lot wrestle with the traffic and mayhem. :giggle:

Richard.
Hope to get to cheddar sun night so may be able to catch highlights, seems odd starting season now.

We going to Sutton on Sea for a week at the end of July, roll on.

Hadn’t you noticed? There’s been some strange COVID thing happening that might have caused a bit of a delay.
Better late than never though. (y)

Richard.

Down to Landguard Fort, relax for a couple of days do a bit of fishing.

Nothing planned for the immediate availability of campsites but we start in earnest mid-July.

Before those trips, we’ll need at least a day trip to test new accessories & recall how the old ones worked tho 😳

We will be at Pentewan's sister camp Heligan gardens 11/7 to 13/7. If we out the traffic by then😃
