I've killed my battery.

Somehow I managed to leave the lights on in the habitation area with the control panel set to can battery.
Don't ask me how as I always switch the panel off (Apart from this time).
Anyway over a period of a few weeks this has drained the battery.
It has taken the voltage down to 3.5v. the battery is three years old and won't take any charge from my battery charger.
I think I can consider it dead. If I do get charge into it I won't have much confidence in its longevity.
I'm considering this as a replacement.
It seems a decent price, decent brand and has good cranking amps.
Any views on this battery or others appreciated.

Recharge 1.5 times faster.
30% more power.
Snake oil.

It doesn't need 30% more power, the old battery never had it and worked fine until you killed it.
It doesn't need to recharge 1.5 times faster, once the engine has started it will be minutes and the battery is charged from a few seconds cranking.

Your old battery will possibly accept some charge if you connect it in parallel to a good battery.
A 'smart' charger needs to see maybe 7 or 8 volts before it recognises a battery so the extra voltage from a second battery gives it enough volts to start charging.
Give it an hour then disconnect the good battery and leave it charging for 24 hours.

Just a tip to charge your old one, connect it to a fully charged battery with jump leads then connect your charger to it , hopefully it will then take charge (y)
Edit I see John has beat me to it.

Is a good price, I think I've got one under the bonnet, but it ain't a leisure battery.

I think it should be the 'Cab' battery and not 'Can' the OP is referring to so it does not need to be the leisure type.
Engine battery is what he's after so the one above he has mentioned is fine and good money too (y)

Mustn't be a German van, nothing in my habitation area runs off the engine battery....

I think I would disconnect the cab battery option from the switch in future flat hab battery in the middle of nowhere very inconvenient flat cab battery!!!!!!!!!

Regarding recharging your possibly ruined battery - recharge at as slow a rate as possible, if you have a choice. A trickle charger is ok, for a long time, possibly a few days. The slow recharge helps to break down any larger sulphate crystals that might have formed while stored in a discharged state.

Are you sure of the reading? My van (15 years old) will switch off the habit circuits if voltage drops below 11 volts.

019 is same battery footprint as the 017 but a little taller. Slightly more capacity and more CCA.

Theoretically that's the wrong way round.
If your charger has a desuphation mode it will bang high volts (15v+) and a high current in to break up suphated plates.
Suphation on the plates insulates the plate from electrical charge and a slow lazy charge won't penetrate.

Eg. Euro Car Parts. Use code Batt50 for 50%off.

It was the engine battery (selected for HAB use) so it would still discharge after switch off with normal engine system loads over time

I'm wondering whether to replace my cab and hab batteries as they are both now 6 years old. They seem to be working ok but wonder whether to do it before it has to be done do I can plan it rather than have to arrange it in a hurry.

Yer avin a larf.... I wouldn't pay more than £120 for ANY engine battery.
I know its discounted to £110 but the 'regular' price is over the top.

Hi,. I don't disagree that the list price is stupid but then you and I know that and I am just passing on the real price for a good quality 019 battery if OP wants it.

Thanks for all the replies everyone.
Just to clarify it is the Cab battery I refer to. (Anyone know how I can edit the opening post?)

To cover some of the above replies;
Yes the voltage I read was correct. On my system too the control will cut the power supply if voltage drops below 10.9v. The lights obviously dragged the voltage down, then the rest of the drain as pappajohn suggested was from the radio, alarm tracker and whatever else draws current.

To disable the option on the panel to use the Cab battery wouldn't be so easy as its a touch button within the panel not a separate switch. I guess I could always pull the fuse, but would then loose the option to charge the ability to charge the cab battery should I wish to from the onboard power supply.
I have a dual solar controller sat waiting to be fitted. One done it should help should I make the same mistake it the future as the solar keeps the Hab batteries topped up fine.

Thanks for the lead on the Eurocarparts battery. Cant see they sell many at that price. even with the discount they are £30 more than Tayna Batteries for the same thing. I did think of calling them as they say they price match.

I've managed to trick the battery into life by firstly connecting a very old battery charger too it to get a little power into it, then connect my intelligent charger.

Since being on charge the voltage went up to 12.6v and showing 3 of 4 bars toward a full charge.
Since further charging the voltage has dropped to 12.3v and now only showing 1 bar towards 4 bars of being full charged. Long term I don't think I will feel comfortable with this battery even if it does take a full charge.

Thanks again to you all.
