Ok all you bird experts out there, is this an Egret? I have seen this bird twice this week down our local brook.
It it not my photo but it is a photo of the actual bird. I will try to take a better photo this weekend.

Ah, Egrets, I’ve had a few, but then again, too few to mention.

More precisely, this is a little Egret as it has no black eye line and has black legs and yellow feet, whereas both the Great Egret and Intermediate Egret have black eye lines, black legs and black feet.

It's a Little Egret, not to be confused with the Greater Egret which is generally a visitor to the UK

Thanks everyone for you confirmation, I asked the question because this is first time I have seen one in our location.

I think they used to be fairly rare to see them anywhere in the UK but we now have quite a few around my part of the country.

I see one most days.

We have Cattle Egrets a few miles away across the Chilterns near Chesham and I believe a Great Egret has been recently sighted at the local Tring reservoirs. (y)

In some cultures they are the Souls of our Ancestors come back to keep an eye on us.

Arn't they beautiful . :)

I have an ornament of an egret with its chick ... had it for years and it precious to me .. I live in fear of breaking its beak.

Lovely photos. Thank you.

You lot know nothing.....

It’s a bird....:D

Je n'egret rien - wasnt that a sparrow.

There is one frequents our little stream in Guisborough in the chilly North East, I saw it last year and then saw it again a couple of days ago but it flew when I got my phone out for a picture.

A fisherman friend says there are loads near Northallerton on the Swale.
