Just under a month ago in Spain we had to have a cracked windscreen replaced. Today, in France, we have another cracked windscreen. Any one else ever had two cracked windscreens in less than a month?

A friend now deceased had a total of 4 windscreens over a period of a couple of years on a Fiat Ducato. He said the last one that was fitted the fitter told him the others hadn't been fitted properly

Yep, I did. Got Autoglass to replace the cracked windscreen my Hymer. They did it on our drive and paid for directly by my insurance company. The new one cracked 2 days after fitting and I had not moved the motorhome at all. It was inspected by Autoglass, who confirmed it was a stress crack (no s**t Sherlock) and replaced by them FOC under their warranty

Can you see a chip it is emanating from?

The first one was an horizontal crack at the bottom of the screen, hidden from outside by the wiper, no chip mark. This one is near the middle right of the screen and, yes, we can see a chip mark. It is in the driver’s line of vision so could not have been missed when we arrived yesterday. Have had outside screens on overnight and didn’t notice it when they were removed and the internal blinds were opened. Did leave the van for about 1/2 hour so could have been hit by a stone thrown up by a van leaving the Aire. Insurance Co sorted the first one, hopefully will do the same this time!

Hi.
Had two go one year apart same place/area,just entering the southern limits of Bordaux. As regards the " Stress " on a newly fitted screen, used to be a common fault on lorries a few years ago,if it lasted three weeks..... It was a "Good 'un" and never broke again.

Two genuine broken windscreens in three weeks. Had first replaced then 3 weeks later a stone got thrown up - here we go again!

But no questions asked and it didn't affect my insurance renewal premium.

!hit happens occasionally.
