We are planning on taking our new motorhome to France/Italy next summer. We have never stayed on an Aires before. Is it safe just to park up and head off for the day?

I'm a member of that club. Last couple of trips left the driver's door unlocked several times. Tends to happen if we stop for fuel as that is the only time the cab door gets used. Some bl**dy idiot left this Motorhome on an Aire for hours and hours without locking it and came back to find it was exactly as he left it.
I really must remember to lock it up next time ......

Actually better leaving the doors unlocked as less damage and in my mind if they are trying the doors they are coming in .Some bl**dy idiot left this Motorhome on an Aire for hours and hours without locking it and came back to find it was exactly as he left it.

If either one of us feels unhappy with a stop we move on. We always go for villages a bit off the beaten track. We once stayed at Honfleur Aire, not really our scene to be honest. Anyway, a couple had their brand new E-bikes lifted off the back of their MH whilst they slept.
