Irish court rules Subway bread is not bread

Never tasted it and now probably never will!

I have and enjoy a Subway sandwich meal occasionally.
It's good to be able to choose what exact ingredients you want in a freshly made sandwich.
Well, except for the bread's sugar boost.
I'm no chef but I know sugar goes in our bread maker. I wonder how much tax we owe......

edit: grammar

Bread does not need added sugar, you only need Yeast Salt (maybe) flour and water any fat added such as an oil or butter acts as a preservative (which is why Baguettes) go stale quickly as in general terms no fat is added

(I should've written "think" not "know". Good spot.(y) )

I occasionally make my own bread, no sugar though..

Same reason I won't buy some of the burger bread baps/rolls offered in Lidl/Aldi as they are 'Americanised' and sweetened ... horrible stuff.

Don’t eat in there sell only hala meat
And it crap food

The little bit of sugar mrskevenh puts in is yeast food 👍🏻
Shouldn’t be much left “unused” to sweeten the resulting bread.
1. Start with Wessex Mill bread flour.
2. Oh! This is harder than I thought.
3. Use a small measure for ~15ml oil.
4. A beaker-ish sized measure of water.
5. Some sugar & salt.
6. Chuck it all in bread machine,
7. Doh! Better mention yeast at some point. Probably should be before step 6.

I’m sure there’s more accuracy needed for the measuring than I suggested. As sometimes mistakes make the bread rise too much, occasionally too little.
If the new yeast is a different brand to your usual it maybe more or less ‘lively’ than your usual.
If the kitchen ambient temperature is much different that can effect bread making.

If it is a disaster, pop to Subway and have a sandwich made fresh to order. Make it a meal deal and save some £££
But not too often. There’s more sugar in the bread than we like this side of the pond.

You really do not need Sugar (just adding calories)

Flour contains all the 'food' for the yeast, the dough only needs room temperature for proving you do not need to put the dough in the airing cupboard there are lots of fables.

When I make Pizza Dough, its Flour, Yeast Water and a little salt....thats it and was taught by a baker from Napoli :) The only difference is that I add the yeast to the water directly, it only takes an hour for the dough to prove, I bet most bread makers take longer for Pizza Dough and if I make double the mix I place one half to one side for the Garlic Bread.

Never had a Subway that I enjoyed. Junk food.

It’s American style bread substitute. Disgusting stuff. I expect the additional US chlorinated chicken will complete the entire ghastly ordeal before too long.
