Can you leave the invertor on all the time.The reason is I use it is for sky box. If I turn it off it takes about 5 minutes for sky box to start working o I would like to leave on but not harm invertor

Three years and counting, 30 years a tent tower.
If its good quality and rated for continuous use then certainly. (I'm assuming that whatever you are taking out of the batteries is being replenished by some power source). We have Victron inverters here for multiple equipments and most of those have been running non stop for 6 years or more, I've got one that aside from service periods has been online for 30 years.

I think you'll get lots of replies regarding losses and recharge times though.

Provided the inverter is properly installed with a correct size fuse in the 12 v supply, and you are aware of the power being used on 'standby'..

As above.. it won't harm the inverter.. in fact most electronic kit fails when being powered up due to the inrush current which puts extra stress on the components .. Same as the incandescent light bulb.. which generally 'blow' when switched on..
