We live in the UK and want to travel to France , Spain & Portugal next month , do we need to get International Driving Permits ??

I also have mine, got them last year when it looked like we might need them. Should not be needed till next January, if then.

You may need more than one, depending on which countries you intend to travel through or stay in. (y)

That’s IF they become a requirement.

I’ve got one, but haven’t checked expiry. Thanks for the heads up, I’ll add it to my list.

Is that known as panic buying?
I didn’t panic.

I was just before my time! :giggle:

Also proven by the fact that I have had a beard for 18 years, long before the hipsters made it popular and have been drinking Gin long before it became fashionable. A real trendsetter me!

As long as you don’t talk to Mrs Maison.

I got mine in December just before we went away - just in case. They were never needed but the small cost was okay as it gave me peace of mind. Yes, they'll expire in December this year but hopefully things will be a little clearer at that time.

Thanks all for the super fast replies as usual 👍👍 glad to hear they are not needed , now let's just hope the locals welcome us ok and that there is not a 2nd flare up of Vivid.

I got 2 last year, one for France and one for Spain. One lasts a year, the other for 3 years. Can't remember which is which 🤔

Sound like a cc of me. :giggle:

Unfortunately they are time limited.

I have one for France and one for Spain. By the time I actually need them they will probably have expired. .
Same here but not expensive. BUSBY.

Agreed, but we got them before lockdown. Could be more awkward now.

Anyway, we will survive..........

..........CV permitting!

I live in one of the most densely populated areas of the country.

I can get one from my local post office no problem. Just come of their website and UK driving licence good for rest of this year in E.U. then its dependant on what is agreed during transition talks. I don't see that going well so will probably require an I.D.P. I do hope I'm asked to produce it at some stage.

Nothing worse than paying for something that no one ever asks for, when stopped I've only been asked for my passport never asked to see a driving license.

Just think of all those €1 beers you could have bought with the money.

Tell me about it! I'm with you on this. I pay good money to keep legal the least I deserve is a bleeding check on all my documents once in a blue moon. I think there will be a shed load of checking after December.
