Interesting old lady (N+B)

Great old van, body work and interior will be top notch for the era, £10k would not be a lot of money if the chassis and mechanics are good.

We got talking to a German guy last year and he had a 37 year old Clou on VW LT chassis, they had it from new and his quote was “it doesn’t really matter what you pay for it, it’s what it costs every year to keep in going”

You can take these old coachbuilt jobs back to Germany and have the body put onto a more modern chassis.

Interesting, it’s only done only 7000km ( 4350 mls ) in 9 years

with 210,000km on the clock.
217,000km on the clock

It would be lovely to buy one of those Clous from an enthusiast, a niesmann nut who has had it from new or new new, someone who has looked after it meticulously, used but not abused.

I don't think this one is in this category unfortunately.

I owned some LT turbo diesels back in the day, nice spacious van but awful gearchanges ( from new) and incredibly thirsty, the same engine went in the early Volvo 900 diesels

From the N&B side I'm wondering if it pre-dates the wood free construction?

I would be thinking about spares availability.

We just had to have a new radiator on a 16 year-old N&B Arto and because of a tight schedule for a flight I was worried about the early availability of a replacement. Fortunately it was delivered next day.

It is the only major repair in our 10 years of ownership on a 16 year MH.

I would enquire deeply about spares availability at 34 years.

I also agree with the question about whether it pre- or post-dates non-timber construction and the change to aluminium sandwich, which is a major reason to buy the later N&Bs.

If £10K is not your limit I would look for an equivalent model much younger for £20K - they are there, especially privately.

Hi Geoff. I’m not thinking of buying it. I just thought it might be interesting to N+B enthusiasts. We might end up with an N+B one day ........
