For anyone trying it out, the ASDA PAYG SIM works well for me. £5 min topup, valid for six months. 4p a text. So £10 a year.

irnbru Tigger-Tim thank you both so much. When I tried before I assumed that a sim was needed as I was taken to that screen in the app. Now I’ve just ignored it and it’s working! The sim card is still lost in the box, the slot is too close to the wall to get tweezers there, but that’s fine.

Just unscrew the cover. Think how handy the app is in winter

I would if I could work out how to do it. The only attachment I can see are the screws that attach it to the wall?

Yes unscrew them and that will move the box so you can get tweezers in. Sorry I thought it was a cover but Alan said it was the whole unit that moves for easy access.

I do get cross being a weak and feeble woman
Those screws are done so tight, even the electric screwdriver I tried eventually won’t move them. As there’s no panic I’ll wait until it goes for it’s first hab check. Thanks for the help irnbru .

Ask a neighbour, or I’ve sometimes found using wd40 helps. Good luck!
