So off to Spain and France at the end of the week.

Can anyone offer some Spanish phrases? For example:

I would like a pitch for 3 nights with (without) electricity

What is the term for Grey waste?

Also Black waste? ( I wouldn't won't to get these mixed up!)

Queue some Mickey taking phrases coming back, but please don't give me any words that are likely to get me a punch in the chops!

We frequent a campsite in Catalonia. In order of language speaker priority it goes Catalan, Spanish, Dutch, German, French, English. Everyone talks English and all pop music whether in the bars or on site is in English as well. My limited Spanish once confused me while reading a menu over the difference between puerro and perro. Puerro meaning leeks and perro meaning dog. Dos beano teento is as acceptable as dos cerveza.

I'm going to be boring here:

Quisiero una parcela por tres noches con (sin) luz

Agua gris

Agua negra

Your Spanish is not so bad if you can remember grande

Hay un bar cerca de aqui? Very important phrase. Is there a bar near here?

Simply substitute "bar" for supermercado, banco, aseo, etc.

La cuenta, por favor. Very important when you leave the bar at the end of the night and want to pay.

If you offer a phrase that sounds like you speak the language they will come back with something which you will have no idea what was said ...most reception will get the gist of what you want without any Spanish..they will offer a map of the site with easily understood symbols ie Chemical waste...grey dump ...fresh water ...etc. So dont worry
From my experience France is the same ....

I want/I would like is "Quiero" not "Quisiero".
But better Spanish would be the verb poner rather than querer: "Puedes ponme una parcela....."

No.
If you offer even a few badly pronounced words in the language of their country that you are a temporary immigrant in, you are showing respect to that native person and it will be appreciated.

Being serious

99% of the time I have tried to use Spanish (even my broken stuff)

To be met with damn good English even when I have been out without the big white beastie a simple café solo gets a fine take a seat sir which considering I have been over here for a long time now and am no longer a pasty white blob and I use a shoulder bag so actually look more French than English it gets quite annoying so I start answering in French just to relax a bit

My understanding of the words translation would be that 'Queiro' means 'I want' and 'Quisiera' means ' I would like'....a difference in the level of politeness perhaps.

Not in this context.
That is a passive form.
In this case you actively want the thing you are asking for.

Spanish language and the way Spanish people use it, is more direct than the sort of dancing all round the issue that English people are culturally programmed to speak.
