You can get your own back with the wind in the wrong direction.
No SOG, and as for the low level ones when you are eating 🤢 always try to to check for SOG before parking p.

On my cassette the vent is opened when the cassette is inserted in the enclosure but it only vents into the enclosure. It is to stop the sealed cassette from exploding if you drive up a mountain. I have disabled it to prevent smells but only because the SOG provides a better release to outside.
The part that opens the vent wasn't fitted in mine as not needed with a SOG.

The carbon filter is not totally effective which doesn't matter that much as it is your close neighbours that suffer, your van is smell free.
This is what is called 'externalising' the cost. It only works for as long as no one in turn 'externalises' onto you.
'Soggy bottom was a nice aire once, until...' :giggle:

The door ones are a bit naff but OK if you change the filter monthly, the underfloor one needs changing every 2 - 3 months unlike what SOG say for both which is annually. That probably comes from when people only used caravans for 3 to 4 weeks a year.
Thetford with their version say change the filter every 4 weeks.

I agree not needed with SOG. My Carthago came with the cassette vent still operating, I removed part of the mechanism to disable it.

Yes it shouldn't have been fitted working as it would be permanently venting into the enclosure.
I hope my one comes with it then I might be able to mod the vent to the SOG to get rid of the awful pipe.

Full Time 2011-2013, now part timers!
We had a sog when we full timed, but found it noisy! Announced to the world you were on the toilet, & woke everyone up if you went in the night! We didn’t fit one in our next van!

Couldn't have been a SOG you can hardly hear them inside the van let alone outside, you probably had the Thetford copy.

No, it was a SOG - had the van from new & had the instructions & everything! Maybe ours was faulty, but we are quite noise sensitive!

We had a Frenchman park next to us with a sog in his door, we didn't think it had a filter in it going by the smell 😲 but it wasn't a problem......... 😜 after Janie put duck tape over the vent. 😁 Bob.

I wonder how many simply run as free flow exhaust systems

An extractor fan to blow bits of faeces at me (because if you smell something it means it's got up your nose)
