My rather old and worn camping chair finally gave up on me last w/end so I need a new folding camp chair.

recommendations? what to avoid? packability? sturdyness? [I'm a big bloke]

Answers please before I spend on something wholly inappropriate

Do you need one that fully folds or do you have space for one that just folds flat?

Flat storage one the outwell kenai is great and good value, they do a slightly wider version too called Grand Canyon.

I was given excellent advice on here try at home first. Thank goodness for free returns I ordered various chairs some with foot rests, reclining ,folding styles and types before settling the ideal fit. Not only for my rear , bit to fit in the limited space in a panel van. I ended up buying not what I thought I wanted.

fully folding means I can put it in the door mounted rack. fullly flat means it can go into the overcab berth. Guess it's a SIAS situation.

From experience next time I will buy chairs with a tube frame along the ground, our expensive chairs sink in on soft surfaces.

I bought two Isabella's,,worst chairs I have ever owned,,the quality is awful. Will need two new ones when we get back from France. These are only three years old.BUSBY.

We have Isabellas which we are happy with. I also have a couple of Helinox chairs which are usfull for informal get togethers or putting in a rucksack to take to the beach.

We've got Outwell Kennai chairs (as M-J ) and they are great.
However, was in Lidl today and this is on sale in store next week.
Might be of absolute no use but ......

This type of chair are normally very bulky and heavy, a friend has one and her fella complains about having to cart it around every time they go away.

Hence the "may be of no use" comment. btw they are 7.3kg weight.

We bought two of these, very happy with them and they've passed the dosing-off-after-lunchtime-drinking test with flying colours. Also fit behind the seats as if they were designed for it. The colour match is a happy accident.

It's great having all these opinions, choices and feedback, definitely always worth asking the ? 1st...save a lot of money!, Extra weight and hurting your back (y)

We’ve got two of these
Amazon product ASIN B01AGE73M2purchased when on special offer. They are the comfiest folding chairs I have found, & do not catch the back of your legs like some of these type of chairs. We have a pvc, & fit two of these under the bench seat.

I would recommend Ozark Trail camping chairs but my search reveals they are out of stock in the UK.

Ours have been in use since 2007 and still look like new. Whether the current versions are as indestructible ... who knows.

We’ve a couple of Fiamma, aluminium. Very light, had since 2008. Bought a cpl of footstools a year or so after buying them. Allows to be used at a table for eating and use footstool for lounging. Do however need to get a Alyn key out to screws the nuts in iccasionally

We have Helinox, expensive, comfortable and very light.Purchased extra ball feet so the chair doesn’t sink into the ground.
