Just replaced my Hymer high level brake light and did everything from the outside. Not sure what your image is meant to show but if it really is something to do with replacing the light you’re doing it wrong!!

The wiring is probably routed behind those cupboards but should be possible to replace it from exterior as tonybvi says

need to replace the high level brake light after it stopped working and on inspection has water inside. I have a 2013 B698.
I would rather do it properly and plug and play rather than cut and re solder wires.
How do I locate the plug and is it an awkward/lengthy job? The image is the inside wall of the rear panel.

The image is the inside of the rear panel. I have posted it on the event that I need to remove either the headboard or cupboards and that someone could guide me with what to remove.

My van is slightly newer than yours so might be different, but all I had to do was remove 2 screws from the light fitting and very gently lever the fitting away from all the mastic holding it in place. Gently pulling on the wires allowed me to pull a few inches extra of cable out of the rear wall. Removed the existing light which no longer worked and all the old mastic and cleaned everything up. Then connected the new fitting to the existing wiring using heat shrink butt connectors. Refilled the cable and screw holes with butyrub plastic sealant then replaced the fitting using butyl sealant tape and butyrub to waterproof everything.
