Hello peeps, our vanity sink has cracked around the plughole. Nothing dropped on it ,so must be age and flexing.
Firstly does anyone know how to remove the sink without damaging it any further, so as to repair it.
Secondly what would I use to repair it .Either in situ (if I can't remove it safely).Or taken out.
Thanks in advance.

Said sink👍

It is probably sitting on a bed of sealant, use a thin knife and carefully cut under the lip. You could stick a layer of masking tape on the work surface as protection. Then repair using fibreglass. Best would be fibreglass cloth and resin. Or use P40 filler, it is body filler with chopped fibreglass, from Halfords etc.

The problem with our plastic sinks is they are blown into a mould from a sheet of plastic, so they are thick at the edge but thin at the bottom where the drain hole is cut. Add to that the poorly designed plastic drain pipe which hardens with age and strains the thin plastic. I do think you need something that will bridge the cracks and offer support, putty will probably just crack again. Obviously you apply the fibreglass to the under side. A thin layer of putty on the upper side, sanded down and sprayed with car aerosol paint will give a good repair.

My better half has found 3 businesses that can make them for you,if they have made them before they have the mould,so much cheaper than if they have have to make the mould,so will attempt the repair and if it fails, I will have one made.
Thanks for the info👍
