Hi Funsters,

I was wondering if anyone knew where I could find out more information about setting up a Certified Site.

I am looking at some land which could work quite well for a CS. I could level some hard standing to accommodate 5 'vans. The site currently has running water, and could have power. Need to look into waste water options. And the field is next to a long distance bridleway and Sustrans route in rural Scotland.

Any thoughts and help greatly appreciated.

THC.

I'd suggest for maximum reach the MCC would be the best bet.

They're a national organisation so the exposure is good but don't have the control freak attitude and endless rules of the two big companies. You don't have to pay them for access or membership or whatever you want to call it. Anyone can use an MCC CL.

Anyone thinking of starting a CL...

Stick with "Motorhomefun"...

At least you know what sort of drunken riff-raff you would be getting...

99.9% are ok guy`s and galls...

Out of 33 stayers from web sites we have only had one I did not like.... let his dog run riot and was a bit upset when I asked him to keep him on a lead as he was snapping at other visitors dogs for no reason...

My site.... my rules.... :nod: :nod: (y)

A few years ago I would have advised a prospective CL owner to choose one of the big clubs or be empty as no one would really know that they were there unless they passed. Those days are over, fewer people look at proper books of sites anymore. There are so many apps, which are just so much easier to use and you have them with you all the time. For example. We, Jasmin Camping, are in a few apps already, appearing right next to the big clubs CLs and I've not offered ourselves up to these guides, we just appear in them.

Serious question:

Does Natural England's responsibility for issuing the various exemptions to organisations extend to Scotland or is there another body responsible for doing it there?

@GJH one for you maybe?

Can anyone answer this? I'm genuinely interested.

You apply in the country you reside, if you get the certificates for your country the other countries normally accept it and issue the same. But they don’t have to.
