A clever bloke with a laptop tells me that the Fiat software version is 4E42A218. Can anyone tell me how to check whether this is the latest version? My Google searches aren't really finding much.

Jim I'm a winner! I claim my prize for a post with no replies whatsoever.....

Maybe its the unanswerable question.
If it is, I definitely deserve a prize. On another post, there was discussion about version 30 or version 32 of the ECU software. When I had a remap done the screenshot below shows the information that was showing on the technician's laptop. As you can see no mention of something as simple as 30 or 32. Phill D loads to fiddle with?

If it ain't broke don't fix it
Agreed. But on another thread, there is a strong suggestion that for a non ad-blue Euro 6 engine, which is what I have, there are problems that can be avoided by making sure you are on v32 of the ECU software. All I'm trying to do at this stage is find out what version I have.

Fair comment, I suppose you have tried Fiat, if it's a problem it should be on a call back.

It looks like your battery could do with a charge?

Yeah, looks like. But my Victron battery monitor showed it as 13.75V.......... Software quirk?

There is a worldwide problem (from Cardiff to Wellington (NZ) and a lot of Europe, Slovenia to Sweeden) with the Dual egr euro6 models currently about 20 vehicles known on this current thread
v32 was apparently designed to fix the faults as shown in the Service News 10.023.19.
A call Back? yes it has obtained different promenance/ acceptance in different countries.
The first sign of a problem before any codes appear is a sooty exhaust. The problem is fuel /Air related control either injectors out of spec or MAF sensor problems. I thought the version numbers started from 24 but today i heard of someone running a 23.

This is from Multiecuscan F2 info
line 7 and 8 my version is 28

Bloody hell! I wish I'd never started this. The remap software showed no error codes and no callbacks. I have no idea whether I am dual egr and still no idea what software version. the1andonly Did you see the screenshot I posted? Can you shed any light?

your Software number:4E42A218 there is no version number
the Twin egr Euro 6 runs from 2016 to 2019 (no ad blu)
Edit by the way the problem is prevelent in Motorhomes with comformatics and relativly low mileage. PS there are thousands of Ducatos on the road.
Do you have your van serviced at a fiat professional dealer? if not it wont be updated. the alfa info
Programming date: 07/03/19 shows the date of my service. not be to fiat since

The service sheet I was just reading that you know nothing about!
:LOL:. So what are you saying? I'm on v18 if it's never been to a Fiat Professional dealer?

No expert and maybe stating the obvious? but the 1andonly is telling you , your version is 18. From what I read it’s the last 2 numbers on what you quote in the first post you made ; Fiat software version is 4E42A218. The 1andonly has version 28 ; 4L43A128 , I think that’s what he is saying plus it has not had any update from a Fiat dealer by the looks of it in his opinion.

Cheers. I now have to find out how important it is that I'm still on 18, when the latest is apparently 32. Probably an impossible task. She runs fine, so I won't worry just yet.

Danger is that if you go to a main dealer to update the version from 18 to 32 they undo all your remapping at the same time ie. Back to factory settings, so best leave well alone until something goes wrong IMHO 😊

The most important thing is to recognize, is an engine that is running well:
Exhaust pipe clean, no soot. ( a wipe with kitchen towel will help here.)
Dpf Regeneration working as it should (needs decent software to monitor this eg multiecuscan or alfaobd)

Cheapest solution if you have an android phone or tablet is alfaobd £31 and vgate obd2 bt4 dongle £25. CHEAP £10 dongles do not talk Fiat, they may talk to Torque for Generic stuff but not upto this task. You could then even check your version number.
But more importantly you will have a superb tool in your glove box, so you can't use it now but on the road with the help of funsters you're closer to a solution than pure guess work.

Looking at purchasing multiecuscan or alfaobd are they equal as in terms of functionality or is one better then the other?
