How Ruuude !
Tea break and two vans arrive from Germany and Belgium.Never come across 3 European vans like that here in the USA.They conversed outside between themselves for a while and I thought, considering our circumstances, they would acknowledge us and say hello. Not a dicky .Drove off leaving us to talk to the friendly American vehicles.

Pair of amphibians waiting for the tide to come in?

I reckon the tide would part for those two.

But then the German one is probably lost, he was looking for Poland.

Their loss ,and neither nationality is known for their sense of humour ,dodged a bullet there I reckon.

I parked next to a German van on a site in Spain last year. We left to catch a bus into town, I turned back as I had forgotten something, on returning to the van the German guy spotted me and went back into his van and shut the door.when I arrived back to the van all the guys van cleaning kit was laid out on my table. When we returned in the evening the German had gone and he did not even wipe down my table. Fortunately not all Germans are like this

Horses for courses.
We arrived at a camp site in Spain and I managed to miss the bricks and got stuck in the sand.
2 German blokes and a Belgian immediately came to my aid.
The 2 English couples opposite got up and left.

That’s why I like to keep myself to myself but would help anyone is desperate need ,like in NZ I was in a 4x4 when a motor homer started up left in gear and disappeared in the bushes down a slope ,luckily he had a tow rope and I pulled him back on to terra firmer !!!!

We were on a site near Poitier when a group of Germans on a tour pulled in near to us. They put out lots of tables and chairs in readiness for an outdoor meal. I went across and put towels on the chairs as a joke, not sure of how they would take it. They saw the funny side and invited us over to join them and we had a good night.

I agree with 'the general', just because you have a motorhome doesn't make you a friend, in fact chatting on this forum realise my opinions can be totally opposite to other travellers.
If will nod and if someone wants to chat I will respond and make light conversation back.
If someone has a problem or needs help will be the first to assist, but I travel to get away from people love the freedom and peace, the last thing I want is to join together in a club and forced friendship.
I am not rude, unfriendly or hostile but am not your long lost friend and don't need your company.

It has become noticeable to me over the years how insular fellow travelers in Europe have become , as the numbers have increased .
40 years ago when driving about , wherever I stopped people would say hello and be interested , especially other wanderers ,few as there were.
now its a one way street . :(

when I arrived back to the van all the guys van cleaning kit was laid out on my table

If that had been my table his stuff would of been lobbed to the side of his van, cheeky bar steward.

Quite, a polite good morning or just a hello is sufficient surely.

Well, after 5 months on the road in USA I have only met 1 other European van shipped across.A French van ,we discussed our mutual travel plans. Then to have 3 European vans in one place ?

Two of them look like they are disguised bullion transporters so not wanting to attract any attention.
