How quickly and how much do these door retainers rust?

I'm thinking of switching my locker door retainers from these:

But I'm concerned about rust.
Has anyone experience of metal retainers (particularly longer term)?

The reason for changing is that the current plastic/nylon ones last about a year before they stop retaining the door.

On your current one try adding a small blob of Araldite to the male part. Worked for us.

Our hab door has a plastic version of the metal one you have shown and it has worked fine for the past 7 years. (y)

Ours is the same 6 years old and works OK, doesn't hold the door if it's windy, but what will? Yes a bunjee 😊
A bit of silicon grease on it once a year helps operation.

The heavy duty metal version may cause some panel distortion in a high wind. My own answer has been to replace the catches after visiting a hot country where the plastic has been distorted just enough to make it ineffective. They are not expensive.

As long as you fit stainless steel you will not have any problems. 🙂 Bob

Stainless Steel retainers made for horseboxs..Brilliant and much cheaper than caravan/motorhome ones.BUSBY.
