How much pressure should I expect?

I have a Hymer Exsis with the Reich pump.

I have installed an outside tap which works a treat.

Recently got myself one of those expanding hoses and when using it to wash bikes off on the outside tap, it won’t expand and fill at all. I know they need a bit of oooomph but am I expecting too much?

The flow rate never seems amazing but all my previous vans have been the same with the in tank centrifugal pumps.

So, what pressure should I be getting?

My outside tap is a real whimp compared to the inside ones so I think you may be expecting a bit to much

I have plumbed the outside one using standard fittings for domestic use. If anything it’s much better than inside, that makes me think you might be right though, they aren’t designed to be pressure washers.

Although the Reich Tandam pumps have a high flow rate the pressure is quite low at 1.4 bar. I've just got rid of the Reich pump in my Hymer and fitted a Sureflo pressure pump. It's 2.1 bar but the flow rate is a lot lower then the Reich. The result is a lot higher pressure at the taps and shower.

You can see my install here.

Thanks Lenny, I was sorely tempted to follow you. Not sure though, with only a 100 litre tank it probably wouldn’t benefit me using it quicker.

Decisions! 😀

My last van was an Exsis with that silly small 100 Lt tank, I used to carry 2 x 20 Lt full containers in the garage.
This vans got a 160 Lt tank will have to be careful showering and go back to using a spay bottle in the loo surprising how much more water it uses flushing the loo.
