Had a 24 hr Chunnel crossing for March to visit our dealer cost £55 obviously couldn't use and it was put forward to next Feb and I can use it until then but if the cost of the crossing is more I have to pay the difference.

Looked at going end July begining Aug for a 24 hr crossing nearly £400.
OK let's have a look at a boat P & O, 24 hr return £2,028. Do they really think people will pay that.

We were literally just discussing how expensive we think it will be if they open up the France/UK bridge (no quarantine). Yes we will be staying in UK, however it looks like some places in the UK have put their prices up to, guess I can understand why but its a shame

Where do you book??...........someone might they can always drop the price ....

Found prices back to normal on the Tunnel from 9th September so going to see if we can use the £55 towards a single mid Sept and come back Dieppe/Newhaven at the end of Oct..

Got to be some mistake there, surely

Tunnel. Outbound only 29/09 £110. Pretty reasonable !

P&O has taken a bailout, well Dubai Ports the owners have, making 600 plus redundant on the Dover route, laying up vessels some probably not to be seen again.
It's quite likely we are going to see a hardening of transport prices across the board eventually as our currency is hit with reality !

We booked that same outward crossing 12 days ago & it was £144, not a lot cheaper, but just shows how prices creep up the nearer you get to the requested date. Early August was cheaper at that time

I did check the P&O prices several time & cleared cookies, mad.
The Tunnel was still over 300 against the normal 50-60 for a 24 hour crossing.

Tried p & o ,they. wanted £300 in August one way. We looked at DFDS dover Calais £150 got it at £110 with CAMC includes 4 hour flexibility.
first time I’ve used the club. Happy with that

Careful posting that, you will have the anti C&MC fanatics on your case. ;)

Given up with Europe for the rest of the year but looking to go to Ireland in September. Prices seem to be on a par with same time last year although CMC not offering as good a discount.

Noticed that Stena now offering to take Tesco vouchers, but once I'd done the sums it ended up almost exactly the same price as standard.

Worth partnering up for a frequent traveller account then 440 for ten crossings and a supplement of 12 per crossing for a Motorhome (off-peak) would work out much cheaper.

Must be something wrong with their system, I did a booking for a return on the 30-31 of July. £999 but if you do 2 separate bookings it's only £225.

I know that you’re a highly regarded and established member of Motorhome Fun but l didn’t realise how wealthy you are! You must be to actually try to book a whole boat to yourself to cross the Channel.:LOL:

We re-booked the Tunnel for 5th August a few weeks ago, after having to cancel our scheduled crossing due to CV.

The previous week was double the price we paid, probably as that was the start of the “traditional” two week holiday period.

We wanted to travel on the 6th but, strangely, that was already fully booked although the rest of that week was OK.

Originally scheduled to go out 31st March and return 30th September we are now booked 5th August, still returning 30th September, we had to pay an additional £42. As we had made our original booking way back in November 2019 we were happy with that.

On the Eurotunnel website now, new frequent traveller sales are suspended for the summer due to unprecendented demand. This does not affect you if you are a current frequent traveller customer.

Looking at some of those prices It always amuses me when people say that BF are ripping people off with high fares.
Compare £150 for a 25 mile, 1 1/2 hour crossing on a boat that can do maybe 5 or 6 return crossings in 24 hours with £500 on a cruise ferry with a nice cabin that takes 24 hours one way and maybe 800 miles.....who is ripping who off?

Our friend who lives in Spain has just e-mailed to say that as well as Catalonia going into lockdown again it has just been announced on her TV that French fishermen are planning to block Calais port, in protest at possible Brexit effects on their fishing.

Has anyone else heard similar?
