We would like a 2 berth only say 7.5 metre long Coach built 3500Kgs GVW with a good payload carrying the same stuff we carry, This I believe could be achieved by removing the overhead bed on some models , removing any 4th seats which could be removing the now popular collapsible stored seats , alter most lounges Diner space from "L" shaped to 2 Parallel benches ( and not weight saving but for comfort make the passenger and drivers seat swivel round a bit further for us to put our feet up more comfortably on to the benches , having looked at the the swivel mechanism the stop only wants moving round about an inch) , perhaps as this would reduce build costs perhaps the vehicle cost would be lower , but I won't be holding my breath !!

Yeah our last compass had 4 beds , two above the cab were never slept in just used for storage , this one we have now only designed for two.

What do class as a good payload for two? We started with 634kg on a 7.35m with facing bench seats then took 61kg off for the awning & air con so 573kg to do what we like with.

You have just about summed up the impossible.

Depends on what someone classes as '' good payload '' , not everyone wants or needs in excess of 1t, I suspect very few lug washing machines around with them etc etc, 500kgs is more than enough for us in our 3.5t G.V.W. Moho

I'm sure I could save a few kilos in mine by removing the steelwork for the seat belts in the lounge.
Space over the cab could be used for storage. The front axle is rarely challenged in terms of payload.

Carado do a T449 that can be specced as 2 birth. We ordered a chausson without the drop down bed. 8 months later it was delivered WITH a drop down bed. We rejected is as we wanted the payload. They took it back to be fair with no quibbles

I meant to include we would want a Island bed sorry

My mate just sold a 2 bed autocruise Pioneer renoir.+

** hell of a job to sell on as a limited market as soon as people realise .**

As a matter of interest any idea what the overcab mattress weighs on an A Class Hymer. We removed ours for this trip but added a 100w solar panel in the same horizontal location.

I’m sure you can have anything you wish in a custom build

Not a lot I can lift ours out easily a guess 15kg no more than 20.

Our 2008 E560, a lowline coachbuilt, has a make up bed in the middle but has only two seat belts. We use the fixed bed and the other has never been used. It's virtually a 7m two berth. We think it's perfect and after 75k miles we are not changing it.

Our van has two seats, a table for two, one bed for two and that's how it was designed and how we like it, and it's in just over 6 metres, and over half a ton payload (y) (y)(y)

We had the choice of bed or cupboards at the front, only two of us so we chose cupboards, we have been told that they are less saleable this way but we bought it for us not somebody else.

It will never be under 3500kg though ;)

Great what make and model is that ? Please

I prefer a 4 berth very seldom use the drop down bed but it's been useful on a few ocassion when parked on a steep slope and not practical to use the length way singles we can sleep across the van in the dropdown.

Because we like them, some say they are a waste of space, every one to their own.
Just a genuine question, ours is length ways in the back , wall to wall and we get in the bottom , quite easy and it's 6 foot wide and almost 7 foot long, massive in just a normal van, if you have a walkway down each side it's going to cut a hell of a lot off your width.
