It would appear that whenever I visit a pub restaurant shop or anywhere else, they tend to leave me an uninvited message on my phone. How was my visit, how would I rate the staff, would I like an online account etc etc.
Now I don't use my phone or get it out of my pocket yet these messages still appear. HOW DO THEY DO THAT...Ta

It's not the restaurant, it's Google, it asks me how such a place was when I have only passed it in the motor

Is it by Bluetooth? Used to get them in shopping centres but I have Bluetooth switched off now.

Sounds like a Google Business thing. Log out of Google and you won't get pestered

I think it's an opt out thingy in Google Maps. Google also have an Opinion Rewards app which might also pop up and ask if you've been somewhere. That's different, though, as you get credit toward the Play Store, which is nice.

Can you turn off "broadcast location"?

I like it actually , seeing I have nothing against anyone knowing where I have been mines always on and I can look back years ago to see where I was.

For anyone who might not know , if you have had it on and use Google maps, you can go to Google maps , click on the three lines at the top left , when the list comes up click , timeline, and it will tell you where you have been for as long as you have had it on.
Holidays from years ago , restaurants you went to and all sorts.
I love looking back on it .

I don't really mind being pestered just wondered how they managed to get into my phone when it is locked. If it gets too frequent then I might reconsider stopping it but it is clever if not intrusive how it does it.

I didn't realise that, perhaps I will turn it back on.........if I can remember how I turned it off:)

Apps use location services which can be turned off in settings but then you might get lost Buttons :whistle2: ?
Getting lost is my favorite part, it happens so infrequently these days, sometimes it is nice just to get lost without the sat nave telling me to turn around... ;)

Only if you sign in and agree to all this tracking. I don’t, and I also don’t get any questions about where I’ve been or where I’m at.

Just turn off location in settings, Google won't know where you are.
I often get a request to turn on location from some websites..... If I wanted them to know where I was I would have turned it on already. Thick or what.

I'm with Pops on this one .

Something no one else has mentioned , is if you answer one review , you will get more . I foolishly answered a survey years ago . At one point following that , they were ringing 10 times a day for another one . The result now , is i never answer the land line .

My son's firm actually use timeline to pay travel expenses , he doesn't have to put a claim in they just look at his timeline and pay on it.

I also use Timeline for working out my expenses; it's a great aide-memoir for the month!

Ditto. Where I am is my business and if I want people to know then I'll tell them.

Now if I look up reviews on campsites or restaurants/cafes, a week later Trip Adviser sends me a message asking 'how was it for me.' Thank goodness my sexlife is zero.
