Ok I’m being nosy but I have a strong suspicion that the van in this ad is my first motorhome under a different plate.

Its current plate is TIG 1770. Is there any way of finding out what its original plate was?

An HPI check reveals previous registration, colour changes and uninsured loss etc.

or if you recall the mileage when sold, does the MOT history help?

It’s the MOT history that makes me fairly sure it’s my old van. In 2011, the MOT month was changed from Feb to Sept. I did this as the plan was to spend the winter in Spain and I didn’t want to have to come back in Feb for an MOT. However a few Funsters will be aware that I never got to make that trip ......... and the reason was down to that van and a certain dealer’s service dept.

If you still have the VIN detail. I think you can view the record on the DVLA site?. I have photocopies of ALL my past V5`s going back many years On my computer.

Just checked using my Classic Car as ref; You cannot access owner detail.

I'd just go and ask the dealer :) Then say you were interested but know of that particular van's history so thanks but no thanks :)

No, I don’t have the VIN details. I tend to be a bit minimalist with paperwork.

Hi,I used to be in stolen vehicle squad. The most detailed check is via DVLA, cant remember if it is a VQ1 or VQ5 enquiery.
From recollection the VQ1 is the enquiery form, the VQ5 is the DVLA reply form.
May have been updated

Chances are the owner has put a private plate on it..
I changed my first Smart Car to J11WSO from the 04 plate it was on.. When I sold it on I left the plate on it

Ah ha! You are correct with the first one. I feel you should be awarded a prize for detective work! Much kudos anyway. (y)
I'm correct with both.
Was DX55EWH until 29th May 2012
Was then P16WDY until 1st March 2017
Then it went back to DX55EWH until 01 August 2018. ;)

So I wonder why it's now on northern Ireland plates, I wonder if it's ever been stolen :imoutahere:

Yes Pete, and it would have stayed my motorhome if it hadn’t been for the issues that developed with it after a certain dealer’s workshop got their hands on it.

Ref NI plates. People buy them off websites as they are an easy way (and cheaper) to make up a "personal" number. The format is not the same as the rest of the UK.

Yeh , thanks for giving me the heads up on that Dealer , As it happens my uncle bought a brand new motorhome from the same , Nottinghamshire Dealer 6months later he caved the front overhead bed in on very low bridge , Any how the said Dealers recommended repairer bodged the repair, after over a year of legal wrangling they ended up paying back my uncles insurance £7000 it’s presently being repaired in Yorkshire the new repairs revealed they had bodged it with CARDBOARD ?
