Hi all,
Swapped from a VW T5
to a Giottivan(peugeot boxer) last year and hadn't had hot water in the VW. Just wondered if you leave your hot water heater on when your parked up on EHU?

If we are with or in our MH, then yes, but switch it off if we leave the MH for a walk, bike ride or the like.

Presumably you are referring to a 240v water heater.

Our Truma water heater runs on LPG or 240v

On either fuel we leave on, but when out for the day will switch off..

I dont think id be comfortable leaving it on while away from the van. Makes sense to knock it off then. I had been switching it off after use but Mrs B is impatient for it to warm for a showrr or dished.;)

If on gas we turn it off when not needed and if on 240 hookup we leave it on as ours has the electric element

I just leave it on and trust to the various fuses and trips should anything go wrong? Only thing I (sometimes) turn off is the water pump to stop flooding if a pipe leaks.
(Do people also turn their fridge/freezers off if not, why the water heater?)

No, we only put it on when we know we're going to need hot water.
The reason for this is simple, at our age it's all to easy to forget to switch it off when we go out!

I aim to turn it on during the night so hot in the morning. Then off during the day.
What actually happens, I forget to turn it on at night so no hot water in the morning, turn it on when I get up, get washed in like warm water and forget to turn it off when we go out for the day. Come back to find it on and turn it off. Repeat the process.
