Hi,
Please can anyone tell us where we can get a push on hosepipe connector for a tap which is larger than the standard 1/2”
We are going to Spain in April and know we will be at one site where they do not have a regular threaded tap for water. (Sitges). The tap is larger than normal and the only push on adapters I can find are for our standard 1/2” taps in the uk.
Many thanks
Julie

Both Amazon & Ebay have got 3/4" and 1" & Universal connectors listed - Just seen them but I haven't got the skills to copy the relevant pages.

If you mean the push-on type with a screw jubilee-type clip to tighten, then most garden centres would sell them I think. I cannot remember where we got ours.

The Range keep this lot in stock for £6.99. I appreciate you won't need all the other gubbins, but the bit on the right fits 1/2" & 3/4" threaded taps.

Hozelock do 18mm and 24mm push-on connectors that they call 'mixer tap connectors'. You can get these from various places like Screwfix, garden centres -- the Hozelock name adds a few quid to the price though! As already suggested it's cheaper to get the 1 inch and 3/4 inch push-on connectors from ebay.

There are three standard sized threads that are used in the UK and Europe. 1/2", 3/4" and 1". The "normal", i.e. most common one is the 3/4" one which, in the UK, is usually fitted to taps with a 12mm copper supply pipe. I have not seen any tap larger than the 1" sized ones.

If you look at the post #11 above the fitting on the right of the photo has a 3/4" thread with an adaptor screwed in to fit a 1/2" thread. You can get a similar arrangement, only with all 3 of the standard sizes, from B&Q. It is called a Verve three in one tap connector. You can also get them from Ebay. Just search for tap connector and you can get a 1" one or a 3 in one like the B&Q one. They seem more expensive though.

I suggest you may want to buy at least a couple. I regularly leave mine on taps!

I have a Hozelock 3 in 1 adapter, it’s a one inch adapter with two screw in pieces to convert to 3/4 and 1/2. I’ve needed all three sizes on our tour of France Spain and Portugal.

I'm not gonna ask exactly what 'rubber tube' you've used but ... do you have one big enough for this .... ? :D The water comes out of lots of little holes along the front pipe ...

One thing worth having in your connector box is a double male hozelock connector. The French in particular like to use these with a water stop socket on the stand pipe to stop you leaving the tap on

Don't forget a multi-tool too so that when you find a tap with it's top broken you can still turn it on/off with the pliers bit.

We Tend to use a 10 litre watering can its usually the simplest and most social as you can have a chat along the way.

Same here,,gave up the hose a couple of years ago..Lets face it we all have plenty of time when away in the van,,BUSBY..
