Two adults in three bed semi - Shropshire location.

Being home most of the year due to Covid accounts for the extra gas usage in 2020, usually away for at least 10 weeks in the summer.
The solar was an outright purchase on an almost south facing roof and paid for itself in the first seven years. Since then the income has paid all of our energy costs. No doubt that will be very different come 2022 with the pending price increase for both gas and electricity!!

I will just over double your figures for this year.

7,000 kwh Electric and 24,000 in gas !!!!
This is on top of a woodburner.

Largeish 4 bed with 3 adults and 2 teenagers.
My daughter does work from a home based beauty salon and we are home in the day, add in the covid effect as well.
Dont think i can do much more in insulation and energy saving.. So "Insulate Britain" can bog off and stop protesting on my behalf.

Your gas bills appear very low.

Our last year:

Electricity 3093 kWh
Gas 21,082 kWh

Medium 3 bed detached house fairly exposed, fields on 2 sides no immediate neighbours & near the sea but we are in the warm south.

Electric only in Spain - small villa, about €50-€70 a month.... 😎 plus gas (2 x 13kg/pa)😎

My gas is measured in m3.
If I convert 1m3 = 10.55kWh, my gas is 26,000kWh pa.
Draughty Victorian house.

My gas consumption was averaging about 24500kWh per annum for the 12 years before 2010 but that was before I fitted a modern Worcester Bosch boiler.
The electricity usage is dropping a bit with LED lights and dropped dramatically when we changed the fridge & freezer in 2009, the older ones accounted for about 1500kWh more per annum believe it or not!

No gas apart from a 47k LPG bottle which last a year or more for the gas hob.
6500kWh on electric plus the woodburner. 3 bed bungalow.

It's interesting that our electric appears to vary little between summer and winter
Assume it must be fridges and freezers that are working harder in the summer

Four bed detached, average p/a over the last five years,

2,104 kWh electric
9,600 kWh gas
1,950 kWh solar

Boiler is 10 years old but it is the same efficiency as the current ones but the fridge/freezer is 32 years old, might have to run some tests on that.

Both electric and gas are around 10,000kWh.

That seems like a lot of l'eccy.
Are you charging a car?

I wounder what some of the houses you see on the tv shows like Grand Designs cost to heat?
I know the new builds will have lots of insulation but when you start getting double height rooms keeping that kind of space warm must be a challenge.
We once looked at a converted church. I really liked it mainly due to it having a very large workshop and garage. The thought of heating the place scared us off in the end.

The bloke I work for built an ultra modern super insulated house last year.

He said it was costing around £10 a month in the dead of winter when we were finishing it off.
Couldn’t get phone signal inside due to the tri iso 😳😊

It was running a heat pump etc

I am not sure exactly how much we have used this year but in theory ours should have gone down since our daughter and partner moved out in the summer leaving just us two living here.
We have just got our renewal from British Gas for a two year fixed tariff and it’s gone up by about £50.
Looking at the way energy bills are going up I suppose that’s not too bad.
Both our son and daughters energy providers have gone under after they swapped to get a cheaper deal.

Last 12 months.......

Elec 1418kWh
Gas 15622kWh

3 bed rural Victorian semi.
Gas c/h only. Room thermostat at 21deg.
No elec or solid fuel heating used.
Just toasty me.

Are you charging a car?

No. 3 person office, a teenager and a hot tub. The truck takes a regular 50W pretty much all the time. And a beer fridge lol

4 bed detached
Gas 11216 kWh
Electric 2116 kWh

But only one occupant!...makes a big difference. Plus approx 100 nights way

Relevant - we fitted thermal blinds from blinds2go to all of the windows in our house ( 6 bed detached, 2 people) and it has cut the heating cost dramatically. Also have LED's in all lights and everything not being used is turned off at the supply.

Shame I only got the Victron monitor system working in February 2021; although we have had solar for 3 years. Now in December and January we will use about 1000KWh of electric each month and generate very little solar.

We have no gas here.

We are 59 degrees north.

We are running two houses with about 2500sqft in total, Plus a detached sauna building. We are also burning 20/25 cubic meters of logs.
Today its minus 10 outside on average over 24 hours and we have used 60KWh of leckie and a lot of logs, however we are quite warm and the cats don't want to go out 🥵

Gas 23911 Kw/h
Elec 4200 Kw/h on a 4 bed detached. We run a hot tub from March to October.
For the electric we are on Octopus GO which reduces the price from 15.4p per Kw/h to 4.92 from 00-30 to 4-30 am. (Same standing charge of 25.2p/day ) So we set the dish washer and washing machine to come on at 00-30/01-30.

From 28 April (when we signed with Octopus) to 5 November meter reading...
2427kwh

No gas, oil heating.

We were away all of October with three LED table lamps on timers (2hrs each at different times), immersion heater and oil boiler off.
An American fridge freezer, an upright fridge freezer and an under counter freezer all running as normal.....used just over 200kwh in the month.

I keep telling her we don't need 3 freezers but it falls on deaf ears

What you in a 20 bed mansion?
Boomerang Offspring who are acclimatised to the Middle East. We have Three more due in by the 13th December.

Forecast:

Caravan on EHU
Motorhome on EHU
All Four Bedrooms occupied
Log Cabin Fire One the go..............

I should run an AirBNB, Campsite and Glamping

Thats without the "Man and a van" Free Car Hire, Free Luxury courtesy car etc. Airport Parking, Airport Transfers, Dads Tax, Bank of Dad, Bank of Grandad.

God I love them but,,,,,,,,,,,,,,///////...............
