Hi,

Whilst in charge of the hob, I managed to allow a pan of liquid to spill on the burner. I cleaned it off immediately with a wet cloth.

Now when I try to use the igniter, I get a 'squelching' noise and a high and erratic flame. I am assuming that this simply liquid inside the hob and hope that it will be ok when it dries out.

Am I being optimistic and can anyone suggest what else may be causing the problem?

Thanks

Sounds like you'll need to lift the top & the bottom part off the hob & give them a proper clean.
Tis easy to do.

It depends on the hob, it may dry out on it's own. What was it you spilled?

It was milk I spilled, but I used a very wet cloth to mop it up. I suspect the flaring could be residual milk burning off.

I'll take the top of the burner off in the daylight tomorrow and give it a good clean out.

Sorry should add it's a Dometic three burner hob.

I made the mistake of spaying mine with oven cleaner. Had to take them all apart and thoughly clean them before they would work.

Problem solved. I took the cover/diffuser of the burner, cleaned everthing out and left it to dry. All is now well.

If anyone else needs to do this on a Dometic hob, beware, the screws holding on the cover are tiny and easily damaged. I eventually used a jewellers screwdriver to remove them!

Thanks to all who responded.
