after it's MOT was told it had a leak on the power steering so I said get it done, now the garage said there was 4 pipes and they sent photos to Fiat to get the right one, it came and it was not the right one, Fiat sent photos to the garage of pipes they could have, garage said none match the one that was leaking? but had the one Fiat said it was, now when it came it still leaked? garage say they can not get the right pipe as Fiat do not seem to have it? any advice? I am stuck in the middle and will have bill from the garage for a job they have not done and be left with a M/H with no power steering? what should I do, where should I take it to get it sorted? any ideas? by the way I live in Sutton on Sea, hoping some one can help, take care all

Hi welcome,

My opinion is that if you paid the garage to rectify the fault then they should make good the repair. Or not charge you.
It is not you that suplied the incorrect parts.

If you have the mot certificate and your van I would agree to pay the mot but would not want to pay for the pipe work.

If they still have your van and or your mot then it might be a different negotiation.
Good luck.
I don't know any garages around Sutton on Sea but Jim might

Many thanks Phill D, I have the MOT but the van went in the week after when they had the pipe, so I'm stuck, as for garages, I don't care where they are I just want some one who can fix it, the garage has always done my work on M/H had no prob's with them at all but if they are dealing with Fiat and it can not be sorted where do I go? Thanks again Phill take care

I am sure one of the forum members will come up with a solution, hang in there i am sure there will be positive replies to help out.
may help if you post what year the van is and what engine. someone most likely has the same model and can help.

I just despair, garage order pipe not the correct one their problem. Easy enough to get one made up at any hydraulic hose supplier using old one as a template.

i agree the problem seems to be where to get it done near Sutton on Sea.

Hydraulic Pneumatic supplies
Unit 9 Beaubridge Industrial Estate
Skegness
PE25 3ST,

For one
Pirtek Lincoln another.

Twice this week there has been a post of garages not bothering to get customers sorted.

I wouldn’t be paying for any work the garage has done to fix a problem they diagnosed until it’s fixed, nor would I pay for any work or parts that were not the issue.

I would doubt the capability of any garage that couldn’t even get hold of the right part either from a trade supplier or direct from Fiat. According to them, they know which pipe is the problem so shouldn’t take much.

You shouldn’t pay for something you haven’t had.
To solve the problem either take the faulty pipe to a hose specialist or Pirtek for them to make a flexible replacement or get Pirtek to come to you which may be cheaper than paying the garage to remove and replace the hose.

That is a good point they do mobile replacement and make the hose / pipe on site to fit 👍
