When I started my van for the trip home yesterday the step didn’t retract then I noticed there was no power going to the leisure batteries also the fridge isn’t working on 12 volt ,
Any help appreciated . I have checked all the fuses in the van

Meant to say it’s puegot van conversion swift

Batteries are fine I can charge them with the 240 they have just stopped charging while we are driving
& everything else works fine

did you check fuse near leisure battery

Does the step have a button to pull it back in when the engine is off ?

The step works with the switch, just need to find the cause of these 3 things all going off at the same time

Probability of the relay for the switch which is found somewhere underneath the step. That appears to be working with the engine off so 12 volt supply is ok.
Normally gunk going into the box from underneath and can be cleaned with some wd40.

Whether that issue causes the other issues, I dont know

can you say what step single or double and mh year might

It’s a single slide out step on a 2016 swift van conversion, could they all be linked by a relay switch?

I might be going mad, but I’m sure I read that the fridge & the step are on the same fuse somewhere?

I would guess at a relay switch as well.

Youve got my memory banks working now and I think there are some legs in your thoughts

The 3 things not working are all linked to the D+ signal that may be fused on your Sargent PSU/fuse box (EC460 ?)
The 40 amp fuse at the starter battery positive terminal would also be worth checking
PSU is an ECU400

When my step and 12v to fridge stopped working, it was one of the red 50amp mega fuses. Which in our van was a group of fuses under the passenger footwell, at the vehicle battery main connections.

Hope this helps.

I had a check of this fuse earlier it looked ok

Mine did until I checked continuity with a multi meter and it had blown. The nice red cover looked fine but behind it had melted away.

I will check again tomorrow thanks

There may be another separate orange 40 amp fuse near the starter battery for EC400 supply and fuse 4 (15amp) on the PSU may be worth double checking .
If all fuses are ok it may be a fault with the EC400 which controls (along with many other things) the 3 x items not working and a call to Sargent may be worthwhile 01482 678981

Starting from basics, are you sure the alternator is working? Does it charge the starter battery? The voltage should rise, from about 12.5V to over 13.5V when the engine starts. Does the red alternator light on the dashboard come on when the ignition is switched on, and go off when the engine is running?

The stater battery is charging & the alternator light goes out. We had been away for the weekend without hook up & all was well, I plugged the van in when we got home & charged the leisure batteries.

I was thinking the same "D+ signal"

Do the batteries get hot when charged?, feel the sides of them when nearly charged.

I think so too. The step retraction, fridge 12V power, and leisure battery charging from the alternator are all switched by the D+ (engine running) signal.

The actual D+ signal is working, because the dashboard alternator light goes out when the engine is running. I don't know the details of how the D+ signal gets to the habitation devices. Usually there is a relay switched on by the real D+ signal, which can provide a bit more power, and avoid overloading the alternator D+ signal.

The supply to that relay will have a fuse, usually 2A or 5A. It might be located near the starter battery or in the distribution box.

There was a post recently about the step not retracting when the engine started maybe a Ducato or Peugeot. The problem was the relay which is situated in the (d?) frame upright which is on the right hand side just beside /behind the drivers seat. Check everything else as mentioned above as it’s quite fiddly getting to the relay.

Adam b The fuse F49 (5amp) in the cab dash fuse/ relay box appears to be linked to D+ function . (on a Fiat X290 cab but Peugeot should be the same)
