Over the weekend we had our engine battery go flat, I suspect it is past it’s best and was about to fit a new one when a pal said try this tester out of interest, i first tried it on our car and it shows good the disconnected the van battery and it comes up with the codes in the photo first is voltage then press enter not sure what the cb or c6 is about tia

cb might be cell bad? Is the voltage low on the van battery? Is the 13.5v the car battery?
Our van leisure battery was at 10v when it failed

If the battery is disconnected, at 13.5v it's showing very recent charger or solar voltage.
Leave it an hour or two the test again.
If its still connected its showing a float charge voltage.

C6.... Anyone's guess, has your mate got instructions?

I have disconnected the negative side of the battery around half an hour ago now the voltage has dropped to 13.3 on both meters the tester is now functioning and showing bad the cb code must have been over voltage possibly, so will get a new battery on order

I think you should leave it longer and test again. If a battery settles at 12.8v it is good.

The real test is when it has worked under load, but don't test during the load operation.

Agreed on new battery.
The battery can show a good voltage but its the capacity which matters
It will charge to 12.6v but may only be a part of its amp capacity.
My car battery shows 70% capacity, still starts the engine OK but the ECU see it as too low capacity for the auto stop-start function to work.
