Yesterday I was getting the van ready to go away on Thursday and was rinsing tank out and the pressure through the taps was quite low. Not enough for shower to work properly. The original pump packed up about a year ago and I replaced it with an identical pump - Riech 1 bar 15 lts min. I was never 100% happy with new pump. The pressure seemed lower and toilet would not flush right around bowl. Order a new pump Riech .9 bar 18 lts min. Just fitted it and no change. Any ideas please. Phil

Sorry but I think it either something blocking the inlet pipe to the pump (filter) or partially blocking the outlet from the tank (debris).

Hi Phil,

Apologies if this comes across as a stupid question but have you tried swapping the connections around to the pump? Sometimes wiring blue to blue etc isn't always the right way around. This solved a similar problem I had when we bought our MH

Wired the wrong way around a 12v pump will run, but in reverse and with a poor output.......

Exactly but this can be an easy mistake to make as the previous owners of ours didn't spot! The wiring on our MH is blue +I've brown -ive however a new pump will be blue -ive brown +ive

Fortunately an easy fix and easy to fault find with a multi-meter.

Do you have a filter before your pump like most. If so have you cleaned it after cleaning your tank?

Thanks for replies. Brand new submersible pump no filter before pump. Checked pipe work up to one way valve ( very close to tank) ok then pipe work disappears under floor. Tried swapping connections slightly worse so put them back to start position. Checked volts at junction where pump connects and 12.4v however when conect pump and open tap this drops to 10.2v ???

Does the voltage drop at the battery too?
If it doesn't it's the cable too thin or bad connections.

Just a tip

Checking that it is actually low pressure and not low flow helps to diagnose. If you have high pressure but just a trickle of the flow that would indicate a blockage. You don't need a pressure gauge, just try stop the flow with the finger (at a tap), if the pressure builds up and starts to spray out the sides but then you get a low flow when released its blocked somewhere. If you can stop the flow completely with you finger and hold it for a good few seconds and its easy then there is something wrong with the pump

Our van originally had a Reich 19lt/min tandam pump, the loo never did flush that well but pressure everywhere else was fine.
I got fed up with the switch wires in the taps breaking so last year I fitted a Shureflo 10lt/min 30psi pressure operated pump. Great water pressure everywhere now and I don't have to keep repairing taps.

How easy is the pump swap mate. Would it work on on my starline 655 ? Thanks

Very easy, but don't use colourer water pipe for the pickup. I found with the tank empty I algi growth on it, just swapped it for speedfit pipe I hope that is better.

Your issue sounds like a partially blocked/seized non return valve in the pipe. It is basically a plastic ball and a spring in a sealed plastic housing. Any grit or limescale can cause them to stick in any position

2nd that for the shurflo pumps ..I use them at work as well..tried a Chinese copy once .ripped it out after a day as it was getting hot and squeeling.and went back to shurflo ..about £50 for 20psi.

You need to increase the pressure (BAR) not flow rate.
You did the opposite by increasing flow but reducing pressure.

Tried everything but no real change. Mrs A looked at the kitchen tap and thought there was the same pressure as last year it is just the shower/bathroom (all one unit) that has low pressure. Changed the hose no improvement. I am now thinking that it might be a problem with the tap. To get to the tap means taking shower unit apart😂 so thinking of putting in a 1.4 bar twin impeller pump to see if that cures it. I really do not fancy taking shower unit apart. Any thoughts on this idea.

Jumping in on this thread. Our original Reich pump didn`t do much by way of volume so I replaced with an identical one. Still pretty dire but having read some of the replies to this I switched the wires over and have a decent enough volume of water now.

If it is not low flow to all the taps

then it could be the little wire filter in the mouth of the tap. The can get furred up.
